This is the result of UCLA legacy of hiring a dance instructor to teach gymnastics, where is all about dancing and not enough gymnastics, almost an aftertought... Like.. "oh yeah, I have to do a somersault or two!". Not a fan of this new age gymnastics, sorry, but no. I want an athletic event, not a dancing show.

For a college routine that is some of the hardest tumbling you will see in NCAA women gymnastics. So, it's not all about the dancing.

What do you mean? She does way more difficult acrobatics than what is required in college gymnastics. Three tumbling passes (some college gymnasts only do two) and all three of them are double saltos. If you want to see more difficult tumbling than this go watch elite

The added funk and ass-shakin’ removes any cuteness and class The added funk and ass-shakin’ removes any cuteness and class from the floor exercises. Don’t know why the Black gals think classlessness and tastelessness is cute. Yes, I do. No Reason. Funk and Ass sells tickets. It’s called marketing: Apply what ewe have to get what ewe want. I dont fully disagree with this comment, black girls do tend to oversexualize themselves.. it just feels misplaced.. wasn’t a lot of ‘ass shaking’ here. The theme was old school hip hop judging by the music so she did mostly old school hiphop dancing…

Maybe it is because I’m not from the states but I really don’t see a problem with the way she dances as long as she is happy and healthy in het gymnastics career. As I may speak as a black girl. The world tend to oversexualize black girls that is the way I see it. Especially the way we dance witch is also a part of culture and often not meant as a sexual act. But the rest of the world made it seem like it is a sexual act. Witch I agree is seen as it now, but that doesn’t mean we should always view it that way. I don’t think gymnast have to be cute or so called “class” ( whatever that means) to be able to perform amazing routines. Jordan is an amazing performer with class!😊

Your comment reminds me why discussions on critical race theory are needed in the classroom and in broader society. It's tiring that black women are sexualized for simply dancing in a cultural manner. Furthermore, the concept of cute and class is not solitarily homogeneous. However because up until recently, this sport has been televised featuring a majority white, eurocentric population, there's an ignorance that cute or class can only look one way. I look forward to the next ten years, as this sport as well as others, will continue to depict the ethnic diversity in our states and countries and transform what we deem as the only way to be.
