As a Bruins fan I have mixed emotions on this considering he played such a huge role in Boston not winning the Cup (Binnington in the first period of Game 7 legitimately crushed the Bruins will to win, it was nuts), but it's kind of cool to hear something like this where a player comes in and there's mutual respect there for how the organization was run compared to what he had to deal with with Brodeur, Yeo, etc. in St. Louis. Hate that it bit the Bruins in the end but it is kind of poetic in a way.

Made me wonder the same thing. We couldn't get the 1st round pick, but Blues management seemed like they gave up on the season that they basically said with Binnington, "Oh well. Let's give this rookie goaltender a shot." I especially thought this, since I remembered Binnier coming in years before after whoever the starting goalie was struggled, so Binnier played the rest of that game. Binnier didn't look hot then. His first shutout didn't completely wow me yet, but it did give me a small glimmer of hope that ended up completely trusting in Binnington.

San Antonio was still affiliated with another NHL team at that point. The NEXT year they moved their team to San Antonio and binnington played in San Antonio that year then St. Louis.

@@mikelynch7271 No not overly sensitive lol but big defender of the minor league game, with all sports not just hockey. I get his gripe, feels like he paid his dues and all that but nothing does rile me more then those that "paid" there dues so to speak. I have seen players have that attitude early on in their careers and it often times doesn't work out in their favor. Not always, but certainly seems more often then not. One player that comes to mind who accepted getting sent down when he really deserved to be up in the National was Peter Zezel, God rest is soul! He accepted the Devils demotion down to Albany and had a good season there. Such a class act and fan favorite. When he was then dealt to Vancouver he of course wasn't going to play down in the American league but that guy told the organization that he was selected to represent Albany in the AHL All Star game and wanted to honor his commitment to the fans and the team in Albany, and he did! He didn't have to, hell he was out of the AHL, ticket punched from Albany NY to Vancouver, what he did was all class, humble, stand up guy. That to me is character, and I would rather spend my money seeing that type of player anyday of the week. A good season or two and a cup win is a good thing no doubt, nobody can argue otherwise. I appreciate his effort to stand up for what he thinks is right when he feels he is being screwed around with for sure. The hockey business is a wonky at times numbers games. I think the NHL trying to utilize the ECHL more in the developmental chain is a good thing though. Being humbled by a brief demotion can be a good thing lol. With Schneider's situation yea its unfortunate. Time of age and injuries stacking up works against anyone unfortunately so not sure if he is likely to resurrect his play at a higher level. Schneider though by respecting the organization's assignment to the AHL he is being respectful, accepting his assignment without question, being loyal. That is an intangible quality of character that often doesn't go unnoticed in the tight knit hockey business, looks good for a post playing days employment within an organization 😉👍.

I like hockey players way more than any other "group" of athletes. But something about Jordan makes me think i really wouldn't want to be around him. Not sure exactly what it is, and i recognize it is unfair and has no basis, yet i just get the sense that he's a jerk. Sean Avery oozes jerkiness (and shows it by his actions and words) while Jordan seeps it out from the seems (and as far as i know hasn't shown any of it). Anyone else get that sense?

@@Blue-dx4sd Okay. Binnington was drafted in 2012. He played in juniors 2012-2013. He mostly played ECHL 2013-2014 (one game in the AHL). He played in the AHL until 2017, when they tried to send him to the ECHL because, as he explains, they didn't have an AHL team to send him to. That's why he refused. He had already put his time in. He played in Providence 2017-2018, then San Antonio in 2018 until he got called up to the Blues.
