Every Dutch person should be so proud, you could have not sent anyone better. Joost is an artist like no other. Being an older Finnish woman and actually reading his life story, listening to all his songs and even trying to pronounce Dutch language in my local Dutch owned bars in Spain... He will be GROOT

Im so into this. From initial reaction of wth😂 but nice to see the Netherlands submitting something different, this turned into my top favourites. Curious about actual live performance at Eurovision. Will definately be voting for this❤

First LIVE ( no phones/ B/W) concert was on stage 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands. A day later another concert in colour and with phones allowed ( also to view on KZread here) Its a HUGE HAPPY PARTY with Joost ! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 NETHERLANDS 12X12 POINTS 😝😝😝😝😝😝!!

Everybody have their own ideas or feelings with the text. He is thinking of his past/ parents… others think on their story.. some think of europe (war in Ukraine). Being there… hakkuhhhh… or singing, dancing.. jumping works for everybody the same… like a medicine. As we say here in the Netherlands: lekker los gaan! This was at Poppodium 013 in Tilburg The Netherlands. Joost won the Radio 3FM Award for Best Artist yesterday. In The Netherlands his talent is acknowledged and rewarded. His style is in between Gabber, Punk, Indierock and Rap. We also know him as a KZreadr and a writer. He's not just some nobody send as an entry to the ESC for our country. For Joost the ESC is the Olympic Games of performing/ singing. He has worked on this for about a year. And this song has many layers, sounds happy but is not really happy. It's about grieving the loss of his parents at a young age and taking a step to continue his life. "I have lost everything, except the time" and "so I travel around for the world is mine." It doesn't matter where you go or what you eat, you can't escape the pain. It might not be your genre but it is art, it's clever and has meaning.

@@Cherlindrea99 thank you for trying to explain it. I dont really.care if he won an award or if he is a nobody, that is just meaningless to me. He could also be working for a while year of for just a day, that is again meaningless. "The Doors" recorded one of their best albuns abd ine the best albums ever made in 3 days. I see the layers you talk about, i can unserstand he is talking about some loss of his father/ parents, i see some attempt to convey some deeper meaning with the words "i have nothing except time". But that is just not enough, you cant just throw some random loose sentences and say it is deep and artistic, etc, thats not how music works for me. The whole song is some cheap electronic beat with no musical interest in terms of what music is made off: harmonies, dinamics, melodies, etc, along with other elements like good lyrics etc. To me nowadays you throw some cheap beat, talk about something sentimental in some sentences and u call it art!! In my personal opinion, get out of the illusion. Art touches people and this does not touch me, at all, not even supeficially!!! Sorry :)

​​@@rui4659 The Netherlands did not want to "play it safe" this year with another boring depressing ballad. They chose an out of the box song, which you either love or don't like at all. Joost wrote this song for his father, with whom he watched the Eurovision Song Contest on the couch as a child. He told his father that one day he would also be on Eurovision... According to Joost, the song is like a letter, as his father once taught him that the world has no boundaries. When creating this song he tried to push all (musical) boundaries. "Europapa" has a pounding gabber beat, to which Joost raps and sings with creative rhyme schemes and wordplay, in Dutch, English, German, Italian and French. And although the song sounds very cheerful, the ending is very small. He says that he sees this part of the song as a new beginning after his mourning.
