I have to admit, that 455 sounds pretty mean at idle with that big pipe muff mod haha. My grandpa had one and that was what he called his “big saw!!”.

I love the old jonsereds the real reason for them going out of buisness is that their old saws still ran so good and strong the owners never replaced them. The only way to make the big profits is to sell you a saw every year. It's the disposable world we live in now everything is built to fail. Great saw.

Nice! I was going to tell you the felling dog goes on the outside of the clutch cover, but it looks like you figured that out. Nice little saw. The sky was beautiful in the cut video. Now, put a sharp chain on her, and make her do some work.

I finished building the ms 25 it saw, today. It is a compact, complex little saw but it is light. I ran into problems but I am happy with the result. I put the bar and chain off my ms 251 on it. I bought it this past summer, .325, .050, 68 wit RS chain. Building a ms-250 will tax your abilities. It did mine. I ran it for 30 minutes this afternoon, 1/2 tank , one pull restart.

Those Jonsered 450 and 455 can be upgraded to have the better airfilter setup from 525 and 535 and that setup works great.... but you need an air filter and air filter cover to do that.

Any aftermarket source for 525 airfilter and cover? Those seem to be already missing on any parts saws i find.

Up, I chose that because it's only one and I rather have it close to the bar than "correct" ;)

@@afleetcommand run it the way you choose. I have the same set up that is why I said it . Wasnt trying to be rude or anything. Was just something I noticed. Im not even sure why they made the jog like that. Would be just fine straight in my opinion. Cheers and great videos.

Walt... the those saws have similar deal than 2051-2055 or Husqvarna 350 so you can actually take the cylinder and deck it on a lathe..... Those things have lots of squish(atleast that has been my experience).

It is, but I choose to do that and keep it closer to the bar....so it will stay upside down until I have a reason to put it on correctly :)

My buddy has a jonsered 455, I haven't had the chance to tear into myself but he says it fires and runs great cold but it won't start hot, my gut says ignition but I'm wondering what your first thought is?

Tank vent(vapor lock)or coil. I had a coil that would do exact same, would start cold and run just fine but when you shut it off the it would not start until the saw was cold again ...

A little off topic but i heard poulan in there dont they have some partner sprinkled in there! Picked up one of the saws i remember hearing in the saw college vid you didnt care for a 830 jonsered dont know much about it and cant find many parts for it ! Do u have any insight on it?

  • @afleetcommand

No to the not liking an 830, the 830-930 series are excellent. It's the 2077-2083, and that's because parts are impossible to find.

830's are a good strong saw, problem with them is parts. VERY hard to come by. Basically if you are a hobby type/collector that research and hunt is part of the fun. But if you are looking for a saw to actually do work with, an 830 prolly isn't a good choice.
