So many film-literate Joni fans! Great film and a new soundtrack song for it by Ms. Mitchell. How calmly does the olive branch, observe the sky begin to blanch.
Joni at her brilliant best, this song is so mercifully sweet at this time. Shows what a genius can do watching the late show. Scorpio to Scorpio, she captured Richard Burton's plight (he was so great in it), with her signature poetry: "the Devil's in Suite 16; . . .he's burning like Augustine. Wow. Get well, Joni. Thanks Soundcarver!

That's her..her voice changed thru the years from smoking...lol sting..it does kinda when you listen at first lol 😂🎵🎶🎶🎶.

@@danielbelardino7662 her voice change is more down to age than smoking, although that probably deepened it slightly more. Its just a natural effect of aging, more noticeable in women than men, we don't hear it very often with there being not many women who keep making music late into their career. Check out the stark difference in Kate Bush's voice between her most recent album and her debut, it's insane.
Christine McVie would have done this song justice.
I love this song but I don't like the chorus! Should have been more ethereal and dissonant, like some of her earlier chorus work. It's as if she had finally found the perfect melody for a favorite film. Would have been interesting to hear an album of Mitchell songs done to her film joys. The cast of the film would have loved it!!
Castanets aren’t really used in Mexico. Joni missed it on this one. So your research gringa.
I want to like Shine, but can't get over the harsh cheap synths and flat demo-like sound quality. This needed a better engineer/producer.
