😑that was painful....we must be self reliant or just have dealings with any country that will be willing....buy arms from any nation that wants to make money.

Short-sighted. Let's assume Israel doesn't do that. Why do you think Israel doesn't? If you listen to Pollard, you might think The United States restricts Israel's acquisitions. Firstly it can't, but mostly, it wouldn't if it could. So, again assuming Israel doesn't, why doesn't it?

Rabbi. This is a silly question. Were Israel to aspire to this, much less attain it, it would go the way of all others with similar aspirations. Is there a greater threat to geneal order than a power without need of others? A more serious question, if I may, is: Why would any country or nation ever seek to be militarily self-reliant? I put it to you. Anyone in Israel or anywhere else who presses for military self reliance as a national objective, is no friend to Israel or anyone else.

It's not a realistic option. No country has that. Indeed that motivation was a big reason for Germany's wild attempts at expansion and control in WW2. The most self reliant military in the world is the USA, but there are two things, they obviously have lots of treaties etc. with other countries, and they also sell their arms across the globe inorder to defray development costs. The second thing is that the USA has the strongest economy in the world, and it needs that inorder to support it's military extravagance. A third thing is that they are a very big nation with a lot of natural resources. What Israel actually needs is more diversity in their arms. ie things that can be sourced from multiple countries rahter than just one. The reason we don't have this diversity is because of the 3+ billion yearly the US gives to Israel, which ensures that Israel has to be tied to the USA.

This is not completely right there are other countries that achieved self reliance - self reliance means not simply copying everything but also in redesigning your army in a way that it can be more effective with what can be produced locally. Israel is really lucky in that it can actually do and design a lot in this area. We just need a bit of creativity and it so happens we also have a lot of this!

@@pawelhuszcza9611No argument from me, especially on the creativity. That said, "self-reliance" in any industrial setting means owning the supply chain. From elements and ores to raw materials to finished goods. The US has this and creativity, and ingenuity. Israel definitely possess the last two. I'm just not sure about the first two. Am I wrong?

Netanyahu is asking for the ability to maintain his military from within the borders of Israel. That's a different request. Israel has always done this. Everything we've ever sold Israel has been modied (improved) by Israel. In fact, Israel and the US have shared technologies and intelligence (without need of stealing it) to ever greater degrees. Mr. Pollard is correct, of course when he says, "wherever there is a possibility of somthing happening, you have to consider the peobability of it happening." True enough. That said, you started by saying you've circumvented that problem and finished by saying it concerns you deeply. Which is it? By the way, I have more faith in your leadership than you do, and I hardly think that Israel would have purchased a weapons system of any kind, which could be "remotely grounded." As to the "many people" who warned you against getting involved in this platform, I doubt it. There were some, I'm sure, and you might jave been one of them, but not so many as to influence the partnership. You guys did ask for the Raptor after you and everyone else was told it would not be sold. Talk about Hutzpah! Then of course, after you got the most advanced aerial platform available, you complained about that. There were people here who argued against making it availble to any other country. Others who argued restricticting its sale to Britain and Israel. Ah, the tribulations. Now, you dengrate it. First, it is not slow. True, there are others that are faster, but sluggish? No. It is incredibly stealthy and because of that, it doesnt require extreme speed. Same for the Raptor in this dimension. Also, it is not a coordinator. That's the kind of understatement that a person makes when they don't actually know better. Your airforce does. As to your push for balistic, precision-guided missile systems instead of aircraft is misguided. It is not stupidity or institutional bias. Israel's airforce has in fact, prempted so many attacks on Israel and maintaiened the balance of terror in the region, that to suggest they would opt for lesser weapons (aircraft) over greater weapons (guided missles) for reasons of institutional bias is frankly, insulting to the men and women who do what you've never done. I like your perspective on many things, both of you. On this topic, though, I think you can do better.

There is a rabbi, with a good reputation, that implies that it is insane to speak about nuclear weapons and other types of weapons, and fighting to the extent that is mentioned on these videos with Pollard. This rabbi states that if Israel isn't worthy, it can me devastating for us with the retaliation. This rabbi states that in the Tanach, the leaders didnt send the Jewish army to fight always, but only when they were worthy, and that we are not to supposed to set ourselves up to rely on open miracles from God. This rabbi states that the focus now needs to be on Israelies improving their mitzvot and eliminating sins, not on 'rambo' type analysis. Would Rabbi Bar-Hayim and J. Pollard respond to this?Thank you.
