the new golden standard for how a tenor should sound. I think this man will cause a revolution in tenor singing. Goodbye effeminate sound, hello masculine. Is there any going back now?? And yet this voice itself is historic, rare. You can listen to a hundred tenors, but this one will draw you back.

Unlucky for you this is a baritone aria, like 2 of the 5 other pieces from this Mahler work. :-)

Jonas Kaufmann has a particularly dark voice for a tenor, which is suitable for Mahler, although I prefer the recording by Jose van Dam for an even warmer, richer voice. I have uploaded it to KZread. Music critics have stated that this one song is perhaps the finest example of orchestral accompaniment, which such a sublime composition as this deserves.

This 6 piece Mahler work has 3 tenor pieces and 3 for baritone / mezzo, and interestingly he is more comfortable in the baritone pieces.

It's the cor anglais (English horn) and harp that I miss - perhaps miss is the wrong word, since they're difficult to unhear. @@renzo6490

Such a belabored voice with a technique full of holes. I do not understand the fascination with this singer. Sorry.

Volle Zustimmung, klingt furchtbar. Hampson/L. Bernstein
