Jonas has just properly awed me. Brilliant instructor and teacher, and this is coming from another teacher. However, I'm happy that I get to view this as a video, because I do belive the session lacked student interaction. When he talked about Thi Hais I had to rewind several times and try it out for myself before i really got it. I had to count the konna whilst doing the clapping, and do it many times before I felt I was equipped to move forwards. I think I speak for a fair bit of the students there if I say that they would have liked to try it as well under the guidance of Jonas. I just feel like I would have been overwhelmed by the information had I been there live. But that being said, great as a video with the ability to pause and rewind.

I really like what Jonas has to say. But then someone like Jimi Hendrix just played his guitar, it just flowed naturally from his being. I don't think Jimi could read music. Different approaches. So when Jonas says he is really Down on western style, I don't think that is fair. Take a look at the Coke Studio sessions of Pakistan music. Music comes full circle. I think they are now borrowing from the west while still retaining their roots within the music.

I'm not sure he's being down on western music, just the western systems for understanding music.

THe class is great by its content but I can't help to think that Jonas and Mathias are really conceited. I mean I get the point of what they are saying but like out of Gazillions of guitar players (and bass players, that were guitar players before) can't make a living in music. So what if Europe make a living for a while on their hit song... and good if Europe or any other band "made it" to fame and where able to live out of music for a few years... But Jonas can't hide that he looks down on people that try to "get famous" on music, or even people that do hard work, as he refers to the Europe drummer as 'being reduced" to empty Letrines in a Swedish Airport. (56:00 to 59:00 ) like for real WTF

I think the point is to not "get stuck" and that fame will do that, to some. When it happens, you stagnate as a creative person and stick to whatever you got famous for. It will hinder, again, this is for some, not for all, the motivation to get better and come with new, crazy ideas for music.
