@@fredsparks Erm, I think you missed that I was taking the piss - out of the idiots who really do think those 2 ten year-old boys should have been punished in a medieval manner, or strung up by a pitchfork-wielding mob. However evil their crime, they were still just kids, and instead of forming baying mobs beating the side of police vans, certain people should have been taking a good hard look at their society that enabled children to come up with such a wicked way to spend the day instead of being at school. There were many failures in the lives of all 3 boys - the killers and poor James - but the response of the Justice system was not one of them. (And as for the subsequent offending of one of the killers...well, I think that points to deeper issues, perhaps to the root of his going awry, and no amount of prison beatings, or harsh treatment would change the way he is now wired in the head. I'm in no way saying he should be let off, but you have to pity a person who was so obviously fucked up in the head from a very young age. He had no chance)

When she started talking about the mutilation and sodomisation of his body, I nearly threw up. She assumed I knew but we were not told such details in the UK. The country was up in arms and baying for blood when they only thought it was a kidnap and killing. Had the British public known the full horror, I doubt the trial would have been needed as the court would have been stormed and the boys lynched.

There's a channel and site called Enchanted Life Path where they mention James Bulger murder. Bit of a strange channel I have to admit, but the videos do make some interesting observations about the murder and Denise and Ralph Bulger, one, that how was it possible for Venables and Thompson to have gotten that metal railway piece (a bolt I believe) of the track when it was bolted on; some have suggested it was lying on the ground next to the track, which I find hard to believe because this track (as far as I'm aware) was still a fully working track on the disused Walton and Anfield line (formerly a station there but still used by trains). The media give people the impression it was on disused track, but how can that be when a train driver passed over James's body?. Also, in Denise's and Ralph's books they write that one of the family members says he suspected his computer was being bugged by the intelligent services, and there are contradictions regarding how long they were on holiday with their new child. Another thing I'm curious about is the lack of clear CCTV footage of them even outside the Strand, and apparently they were seen on camera outside walking along a street, but hardly any of this footage as ever been shown except very blurry stills. The above mentioned channel does make a good point of highlighting how the media pushed CCTV surveillance into the public's minds after the murder, at a time where there was very little CCTV in the country at the time.

And yet this probably still going on in homes today..it’s needs to be nipped in the bud early, and social services should be on the look out for this spiral into later crime.
