Weirdly this fight had identical scorecards to when Jon fought Gus 1 judge gave Jon the 2nd round 1 judge gave Jon the 3rd round 1 judge gave Jon every round but the first All the judges agreed Jon lost the first round it is kinda weird that the scorecard of this fight is identical to the Gus fight.

Reyes lost that fight. I dont know if its amateur hour or people really just hate Jon. But He did ENOUGH to keep his belt. HE CONTROLLED the pace. Takedowns also mean something even though reyes got up. Also the total strikes were pretty close going into the 5th. Jon being the smart vet knew this and poured it on. Getting the nod from the judges. Reyes is a great competitor. I have no doubt he will be champ one day. I dont agree with the 49-46 judge tho

Dom wins the score, but Jon steals the 'show' and make it 'look' good. Esp in the last two rounds Dom ran off, Jon chased. So Jon's win is not totally wrong. Dom should have kept the pace up, and this kind of close title fight, always the champ got the advantage. So.. No surprise.

They literally scored those rounds before 4 n 5 even happened meaning his 4 and 5 performance had 0 to do with it. They didnt wait til after like "well he won the end so lets consider that." No, before 4 n 5 even happened they already scored the first 3 with 2 judges stealing a round for jones n 1 judge stealing 2. All this garbage about "well he didnt keep up at the end" is by people who are casuals or newbies that dont get that those scores are marked round by round. Not all 5 decided at the end. They didn't bother bringing corrupt judges because they thought Reyes was gonna get the knockout. Dana doesn't like Jones, it's like creating a robot and that robot doesn't obey you.

Early on I watched EVERY UFC pay-per-view because I loved to see style-vs-style. As it morphed into a sport where 95% of the guys were fighting with the same exact skillset, I become one of those "day-after" guys who watches all the clips and commentary the next day but continued to follow the sport. I haven't watched a full UFC pay-per-view in over a decade but lately I've been getting into the Masvidal hype so I said to myself, "self, why don't you check the ADD at the door and watch this Jones-Reyes event so you can know what's going on when you watch Usman-Masvidal." So I did...it could not have been more boring-specifically the Jones-Reyes main event. Is this what championship bouts are like these days? I didn't know the UFC had become about outpointing your opponent instead of beating him. This is why I stopped watching boxing! Defense is one thing but Jones literally turned his back and ran...a lot. And before any of you chuckleheads call this "ring generalship" or "gamesmanship", keep in mind that what was supposed to separate Boxing from MMA when it was created was that when you got into trouble, you could clinch, take down and use your ground game. Many fighters went straight to the ground game because they had no stand-up game like Royce Gracie and more recently Ben Askren. Mark Couture, GSP and Mark Coleman...these were great hybrid striker/grapplers. Jones is apparently a great hybrid striker/sprinter. His post-fight interview argument that the takedowns put him over the top is laughable. If anything, it was more of an exhibition of Reyes' takedown-defense because he evaded every takedown attempt or popped right back up. Does UFC now give points for taking someone down like a Judo match? I thought an MMA takedown was just the bridge you had to cross to get your opponent on the ground where you scored points on ground-and-pound or executed a submission hold. Reyes was robbed.

this. it's well-known, to BE the champ, you have to BEAT the champ. don't leave it in the hands of the judges, that's no way to hope to win a belt. and 'barely' winning would just result in a rematch as well anyway. end the opponent if you want what they have.

Before the fight Dominic talked about how hard it is to deal with in a fight because if you move forward you know your eyes are going right into someone’s fingers, so it pretty much keeps you back. John’s already got a huge reach advantage so how do you get past it when there’s fucking spikes pointed right at your face? It’s a total deterrent and unfair.

Hate to be oversensitive about things but I'm sick of fighters not being penalized for that. Dude is 100% right it's an unfair advantage, it's dangerous and highly unprofessional. It's almost at the stage now it's became more beneficial to eye poke since you aren't gonna lose a point anyway so why not? That's not how martial arts are supposed to be, no honor.
