The classic ‘Song of Seven’ album is getting a new lease of life as a Remastered and Expanded release by Esoteric Recordings. Jon Anderson sat down with Esoteric Recordings’ Mark Powell to talk about recording ‘Song of Seven’ and what it meant at the time.
Please note there is some audio discrepancies on the recording, we have tried to minimise these as much as possible.

I was at the concert at The Royal Albert Hall, it was my first gig ever - 40 years ago today!
Wonderful interview, so good to see Jon in such good health. I first knew about Jon Anderson from his work with Vangelis and their first album Short Stories, it made me seek out this second solo album which came out soon after. The title track Song of Seven is a masterful piece of music that never failed to bring up strange and wonderful videos in my imagination. One question I would like to ask Jon is ‘ Has he spoken to Vangelis in the last few years?’ and, okay two questions, ‘Does he think he will ever make music with Vangelis again?’
Love the album as much as "Olias Of Sunhillow!" 😊

I agree. Those first 3 Jon Anderson albums (Olias, Song of Seven and Animation) are all great! ☺
IMO, still one of the greatest compositions ever written.
Great interview. Great to hear your voice Jon. Om Sri Ramakrishna.💙🕉️
Song of Seven is my favorite Jon Anderson composition of all time. This could've easily been a Yes song.
His best solo album!
The title track, song of seven, has always been a favorite of mine, one that I can relate to. Amazing lyrics . It should have been a yes song A young Deborah singing in perfect harmony with you, at the end of song, is very moving. Deborah and the Indigenous people of the world, close to my heart too, what a wonderful thing to have done. I had noticed that in the music visuals that Deborah had done often, gave visuals, of indigenous tribal people, in a lovely colourful way.🌈 As kids we watched cowboy and Indian movies, We always wanted the Red Indians to win, they never did so unfair , The others had guns and rifle's 💙
Ace - Jon Anderson
I still have the LP. But I only like tracks 6 thru 9.
