www.borderpoint.com/jonathan-...
In this recording, I interview Jonathan Abdus-Samad Selwyn on his journey to Islam and how after a lifetime of meditative and spiritual practice, he found what he had been seeking in the religion and way of life revealed through and taught by the last of God's messengers to humanity-the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Very nice mashallah. Islam is truly a rich religion. Pity people put it last instead of first. But definitely Sufism is the best way to enter it i believe. Because it uses the heart as well as the mind.

Nice information, and brother Jon, has a 'Brother Lawrence' simpleness to him (if anyone knows the French 17th century Monk who lived a life of Prescence and Stillness, they'll get the compliment).

I enjoy many of the similarities between Buddhism and islam. The two religions influenced one another in history at overlap points in the near East.

I was a born Muslim and then converted to Buddhism, and thanks to Buddhism, I have started to comprehend Islam 🥰💚 and then I realized that I am a Sufi darwish looking for my creator in every religion and country I have visited 💚🙏

I was also born a Muslim who practiced Sufism, however, I was troubled by the fact that the prophet of Islam was also the commander of the army which led to killing of thousands. The life of prophet and his marriages also troubled me. The fact that he refrained from marrying whilst Khadija was alive because khadija’s uncle was the person who married them and was responsible for translating the bible into Arabic and Aramaic. Further reading of the sura of Ahzab the prophet was given permission to marry his freed slave’s wife; something that his wife Ayesha would come to detest. The Quran falls short of the Pali Cannon when it comes to dependent origination with many Islamic scholars, mainly Avicenna referring to vajeb-al-vojood as the reason for the existence of god. Islam refers to humans as Ashraf Al makhloogh separating humans from the rest of sentient beings. There are huge inconsistencies in Islam especially in the Quran during the prophet’s time in Mecca as opposed to Hijaz ( medina). I feel very sorry for the gentleman who has left Buddhism to find his answers in Islam. Zen Buddhism is not the original teaching; perhaps if he looked further into Theravada he might have found his answers. Buddhism practices non violence which is a fundamental aspect for my devotion.

I'm Muslim and currently studying Buddhism. The Buddha was definitely a Muslim prophet. Anything haram comes from his Buddhist followers, just like Jesus. I think its possible that Jesus was exposed to Buddhism because the legends are too similar. I think the Buddha was an even greater philosopher. The apocryphal stories of Jesus are basically Buddhist.

Islam is not a religion. It’s a way of life. Every aspect of a Muslims life is dictated to him/her. What you can eat. What you can wear. What work you can do. How to pray. What to eat and on and on…… that’s not a religion. It’s a way of life. 👍🏼

No that is infringement on the Sovereignty of the Individual. Dictating every aspect of life is authoritarian in the extreme. And who decides? Some scholar! And arguments between scholars leads to war. There should be no one between you and God. That is why God gave us a conscience

You'll be bowing to Mecca soon when all else fails, friend. Brother Jon in the video said, in a politer way, he too was ignorant of Islam.
