I think the musical aspect is being overstated. Music in the first film was integral, I imagine they are just building on that.

I have faith the Joker 2 movie will still be good but at the sametime, I am not into musicals normally.

Yeah I don't like musicals either, I watched High school musical movies for first time in about 15 years few months ago I cringed but felt like a kid again and the Bob's burgers movie was a let down because all the music.

@@BobaTalksI’ve said it in a previous discussion video back when we first heard about the sequel, but if you check out two scenes for me that I’m sure you’ve already seen then I feel like I can give people that aren’t musical fans hope for the film. Scene 1 - Harley Quinn’s Escape Scene in The Suicide Squad - Think of how we get to perceive the fight the same way Harley does, with the blood turning into flowers and little cartoon birds flying around. An alternative to this scene would be the "Meet The Pyro" Character Trailer from TF2. Scene 2 - Kimiko & Frenchie’s Dance/Musical scene from The Boys S3. I feel like if the film were to play off of similar concepts, where there might be quite a dark scene happening and then suddenly we shift to Harley’s perspective and the way she perceives things and she starts singing and dancing, and that all the musical aspects are nothing but a delusion she has to cope with the darkness in the world she lives in. I’m hoping this makes enough sense the way that I’ve written it, but basically the film shouldn’t just be a generic musical, it is like a subversion of both genre’s and I think it’s great to see someone taking risks and experimenting to create something unique when we’re in an age where everything is beginning to feel the same just because people have found a format that "works". Honestly, I think it’s genius so long as it’s fine correctly and doesn’t completely oversaturate the entire movie. If you see this and I managed to make myself understandable then let me know what you think about this idea cause I’d love to hear your thoughts.

The musical route is an interesting one First movie was an arthouse masterpiece, and I trust Todd Phillips will cook.

People crack me up being so resistant to the musical aspect as if they didn’t watch the first film - Arthur was constantly breaking out into dance to unheard music

Joker 1 was one of my favorite films if not my favorite so I pray they don’t disappoint me here.

I think Harley is going to have romantic fantasies about what life would be like if she could break out Joker. She may later attempt to break him out during the court hearing. Then they will return to Arkham to burn it to the ground symbolizing a new beginning for the two. Then we will wonder if it really happened or if they both go caught attempting to escape . And that'd where the crazy in love comes in. After they're both caught

I really hope they go with a Sinatra vibe for the music. Very big band jazzy type music. That would be really cool

The way I explain the musical part is basically imagine all the song and dance scenes in the original movie but this time they sing

People should stop whining about the musical side of the film until they see it, I think it will be there for a reason. I also believe at some point Batman is coming to this world.

i think the musical bits will be like the "diamonds are a girl's best friend" from birds of prey. showing they're delusions/how insane they are. not like the steroytypical musicals people are thinking of.

I don't know if he was convicted yet of killing Murray on national television or it could be this film takes place 10 years later and Arthur has been convicted for a long time. But my point is Arthur walking around with his hands free is unrealistic, Arthur would be handcuffed. Suspected or convicted killer in a public and Arthur as a inmate would be handcuffed or shackled for safety reasons.

I was really excited for the first film but honestly didn't like it. Tried watching it a few times but my view never changed however I am looking forward to seeing this to see what they can do with Harley. Will wait and see but hoping to enjoy it more than the first.

Just hope these musical moments won't get old and annoying after multiple watches. Just hope they are done well and not have to fast forward over them parts when it comes out.

Do you think Bruce Wayne will become Batman in this? OR Do you think He’ll be a Mix between Patrick Bateman and Serpico? I could definitely see him doing some Detective Work as Matches Malone or He just hires a Death Squad and dresses them up in Bat costumes.

My theory has always been that Arthur is not the real Joker. In the comics we actually never know Joker’s name or his backstory. I think Lady Gaga as Harley is a misdirect. The real Joker I think is someone INSPIRED by Arthur. The title translates to “shared delusion” which could be Joker + Harley but could be multi-layered and truly mean Arthur + Real Joker. Having a second Joker solves the problem of Joker being so much older than Bruce Wayne and also keeps the mystery of the true Joker a complete mystery (and one could argue it should stay that way).

I’m not normally into musicals but in this case it really interests me. I didn't massively like the first Joker, I was really looking forward to it but thought it was kinda shallow and disappointing. Style over substance. But a musical? Well style over substance is almost a benefit in that genre. And either way its just… interesting. They’re doing something different. I don’t know what it’ll be like but I’m at least curious, and far more curious than I would have been to a straight sequel.

This is going to get way to messy. Where is the excitement going to be for matt reeves universe if Joker 2 beats him to the punch with character introduction? Harvey Dent, Joker and Harley in Joker 2, Harvey Dent, Joker and RIddler and Penguin in Batman 2, like its going to be multiple character fatigue.

@@BobaTalks it’s just very poor business strategy, and won’t win with general audiences. Honestly, the most recent two face we got was so gnarly, I’m not sure how they will top that. But also, what I really mean is over saturation is going to bring less audiences to the same characters inevitably.

Really love and appreciate your efforts you take to make all these videos clips on joker 2 it's fun to watch them. I'm a huge joker fan and I absolutely loved the first movie which I rewatched many times haha. Im sure the sequel will do great I have faith in Joaquin and Todd 😁 still a year more to go the wait is killing me. Could you make a video on what you think the Wayne's- Bruce / Alfred's role would be in this sequel? Would we see him Again in this movie? Would love to see your take on this.... 😊

I am still dubious about Lady Gagas involvement. Yeah she can act, but she is soooo recognizable as Lady Gaga, I just doubt she will disappear into Harley. I don't want to watch a story with Arthur Fleck/Joker and be reminded that Gaga is in it. Will ruin the magic.

So Harley will actually be an Arkham patient, and not a psychiatrist?

That seems to be the case from what we can observe e.g. the newspaper clearly shows she was a former patient of Arkham as the big story is that 'hey look, this is Joker's new love and she was a patient too but now back out on the streets'. That doesn't rule out that she was once a psychiatrist, but perhaps still ended up a patient herself before leaving Arkham State Hospital to go on to attend Arthur's trial at the Gotham court.
