I do believe they will animate horses in 2D and 3D for smart production management. I’d imagine those sweeping shots in the beginning might have CGI horses but for shots like Gyro using his Steel Balls to contort the legs for a boost would be hand-drawn as that is simply easier to draw than rig for one scene, generally standard running and angle sweeps is 3D CGI, but specifics are hand-drawn. Similar to how 2D puppet animation in western cartoons have recently incorporated “special frame animators” such as Rise of TMNT, where specifically hand-drawn frames or entire sequences are used in mix to both save on production but still look cool to watch. People can complain on “production costs” but personally if the animators are treated well and the animation looks good, IDC if they “cut corners” to save the budget because there is a ton of wisdom to “work smarter not harder”. It’s why every game has reused assets, even new IP’s will pull foundational assets from other games from the same studio, because some of those assets are basic even vital to include but tedious to implement, or there’s only so many soil textures in colour and normal.

I think the thing that makes Part 6 unique amongst the other parts is how it handles a "Doomsday" type scenario. Sure, there have been large scale attacks, and innocents have been caught in the crossfire plenty of times before, but never like... *this.* The MiH arc was always going to be difficult to show off since it needed to hit the right notes, but man, the anime KILLS IT, and Yugo Kanno delivers one of my absolute favourite tracks with this one. He really captured the futility of the situation so well. What a champ.

And with the 2:42 part, "Desperate Struggle" positions itself at the top 1 of soundtracks in all of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

0:36 fits so well in the ocean, especially sailing the ocean with whirlpool and stormy condition.

That bit choir that starts at 4:30, seeing Pucci frozen in time, the desperation of both sides, and finally seeing him look at Jotaro through stopped time... Chills.

I don’t know how much Yugo got paid but that’s not enough

one of the best moments in all of jojo combined with one of the best tracks in the entire series.... my god i have waited for this for so fucking long

2:22 reminds me of how kakyoin's theme played before getting killed by dio, but less unexpected. it gives you a sense of hope and idealism, then immediately stamps it out. even if you logically know that the antag won't go down that easily, it's still crushing.

Yugo Kanno achieved heaven scoring the episode fr he really didn't need to go this hard!

i have a lot to say about this track so excuse the rambling, hopefully some of this is interesting for some people - 1:30 - 1:49: i've watched a lot (like A LOT) of reactions to the final episodes of stone ocean, and the reactors ALWAYS realize what's happening when jolyne says "that dolphin will take you to safety. *i know it will."* that moment where the viewers (and emporio) realize that, no, jolyne isn't going to make it out of this one alive. and the shot of jolyne looking down, away from emporio as she says this, cuz she can't bear to look at him while telling him that she plans to sacrifice herself... aughhgaoihg;oaiehr;goaiehr;goaiherg;oih my heart - 1:50 - 2:09: it's a small touch, but i LOVE how in the netflix subs, jolyne says to emporio, "you are our hope!" not "you are our only hope" or "you are our last hope". no. "you are OUR HOPE." emporio - a scared, defenseless child - has become the physical embodiment of an entire universe's hopes and dreams - the last hope of stopping the ascension of DIO into an actual, literal god. and like, it's a matter of semantics, but... telling someone that "you are our last hope" implies that you WANT them to do something. to finish the job that you started, to beat the enemy for you because you can't anymore. but jolyne doesn't say that. she doesn't use her last moments to put pressure on emporio and ask him to kill pucci - she spends her last moments telling emporio just how important he is... how he embodies the ENTIRE POINT of jojo. a story about generational change and passing the torch on to our next of kin. it's such a beautiful moment just... aughgh;aoigh;eorihg;aoiehrg - 2:24 - 2:42: what is there to say that hasn't already been said? one of the bravest, most selfless acts in all of jojo. jolyne is a fucking hero and one of the best joestars by far. - 2:42 - 2:50: we don't get to see much, of course, but the two shots we see of stone free's arm being cut off and its glasses shattering... jolyne was literally RIPPED TO PIECES by made in heaven. so fucked up - 4:17 - 4:43: this part of the theme also plays when jotaro throws the harpoon at pucci... even just thinking about it almost makes me cry. the part from 4:31 - 4:43 specifically has such a... weariness to it. as another commenter said, it feels so... hopeless. like pucci is GOING to win, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. but not only that, it speaks to the weariness of jotaro, and honestly of the series as a whole. jotaro, being forced to fight the last disciple of an enemy he struck down DECADES ago, a villain whose effect on his life has not ended despite him sacrificing SO MUCH. and there's a sense, too, of the series itself going... "yeah, all those bizarre adventures we've went on? journeying to egypt? fighting a serial killer? saving all of italy? yeah... it's all coming to an end" fuck man it hurts - 5:53 - 6:31: just glorious. perfect. made in heaven. that's all i have to say

Just to add more ramblings, the drums coming in at 3:01 just make that part feel so FINAL. That compiled with the shot of the sun literally becoming a belt of sight wrapping around the sky because the earth is spinning so fast just fills me with pure dread. It's just pure hopelessness. I also love how Kanno chose to make the last bit change to a happier tone, as if we are truly entering heaven instead of losing the battle. It's such an interesting choice.

to start this is one of the themes of yugo kanno with a tremendous sea of emotions there is both despair and hope in one piece... maintaining the essence of Jolyne's theme (2:22) with the melody of Made in Heaven (4:44) that despite everything was still ongoing with the plot of that moment. It's like it's really a song you'll listen to when the world ends
