it was fun love the motorways! funny how the colour of signs are reversed in Hong Kong vs UK though. Hong Kong as a former British Colony has at least 95% the same road design layouts, signage and road markings but their motorways (called expressways for some reason there) are of green signs, dual carriageways are blue so colours are reversed. Local roads are white just like here. The motorway ends sign is blue with the red slash there same as here, but the motorway begins is red with white background. They also don't use M, A, or B roads they just have a route number like 1,2,3,5,8,9 etc... with some sections classified to expressway (motorway) standards, some as A road/dual carriageway standards. have a bit of a traffic engineering background and find this very interesting, the way roads are designed can tell you a lot about the history and political affiliation of a country. Hong Kong looks like the UK with Chinese as one of its official languages.

Get yourself on the motorway I find it alot safer and easier than normal roads! Normal roads scare me more but on least on motorways people give you space and do not tailgate ! Honestly if I can do it as a new driver you can as you have way more years of driving experience than me 😊 if you feel abit nervous take a friend with you that's what I did first time

Well, when I first gone out alone for the first time ever, my mouth was literally dried bone and my heart was pounding! It’s just the brake pedal I need to get used to it at first because the brake boost vacuum has a leak from the pipe and the brake pedal was almost all the way to the floor but I’ve got used to my car already. The clutch feels really jerky when when I lift the clutch up after I changed from first to second gear till I realise I need more clutch control and use gas a little more to stop the jerkiness. But over n all I drive really well with my car. It’s quite a powerful car! In fact it has 115hp which is powerful enough for me for my first car. It’s good for overtaking and didn’t struggle up the hill, unless I’m in the correct gear and depending how much weight is in your car mainly

Same 😂driving back on the motorway
Tip: when looking in the mirror, look twice because if you look once (for a split second) you won't really get an image of how fast the car is travelling, so if you look at the mirror twice or for a bit longer time, you can get an image of how fast the car behind you is approaching. Its gonna help you with speeding lunatics

This has really helped me. I new older driver and I panic when I can change lanes with cars behind me … the gap. Making sure the car behind me has a gap 2 seconds really helps. I knew of this with the cars in front but not behind. Makes sense. Would love a large motorway rbt / spiral tutorial.

Hiya, just want to say a big thank you for posting these videos because they're really helpful! I passed my driving test 4 years ago now, but haven't driven since (except for almost causing like 5 accidents in a 1 hour drive 2 days ago, hence why I'm here lmao) and I'm finally going to buy my first car next week! There's so much rules and techniques I have forgotten, and frankly a lot of stuff you've covered in your videos I was never taught in the first place. I feel much more confident and aware in driving after watching your videos.

Brilliant video. I'm just getting to grips with it and it's very helpful. Particularly found the bit about looking forward further to avoid swerving helpful. I foiund myself swerving sometimes and others not and couldn't work out what was going on till now. It's also reassuring reading the comments that I'm not the only one scared of motorways, particularly joining them. I'd like to see you do one at night as this must be much harder. I don't mean to pick holes, but just one little thing: Rule 274 of Highway Code says don't use warning triangles on motorways.

Thanks for the tips on steering when charging lanes with high speed. Am planning on going on the motorway for the first time but am terrified of driving at high speed and charging lanes. Thanks. Great lesson
Driving back from Stevenage to Surrey with my wife who is a qualified driver also but never driven on motorways I have preciously instructed her on entering and exiting a motorway so asked her to drive from Stevenage on to the A1 M and come off at the junction after the tunnel I felt she was nervous but boosted her confidence as per my instructions she put on speed in the slip road ( thank goodness no car behind us )she indicated left instead of the right indicator so I quickly changed it to the right indicator and matched other cars speed on the Motorway and then joined the motorway whether she was nervous because I was in the car not sure as normally around town with me in the car she is not nervous but I think it's the unfamiliar roads ! I drove then on the M25 and home we have agreed to do some more motorway driving on the A3 motorway so to give her more practice !. Other wise all good.
Hallo maeth thanks for making so lesson full videos. I learn too much from your videos. and I get my license just with 3 minors. I wanna give a tip for every new learner just keep watching these videos it's the best way to learning and take more private practice with your family member as much as possible. It's help you a lot. my big problem was that I have know one who can give private practice like with family member or friends. If you are not satisfied with your your instructor just change with a new one. and during theory learning till get your license don't use other social media's apps bcz it's waste your time keep concentration to learning till you get your license. I pass my exam after 60 lessons. Bcz I didn't take private classes with someone. at last I was thinking I should give up but I keep it and got my license.

9:13 thats brilliant. I use it on day to day basis in town and a roads and it's a good rule. I didn't hit the car , crashed yet ,and everything smooth 😀 But the one with the motorway to look further , i knew somehow from the theoretical test as it was in a question , but never got to practice as been on a motorway just my mistake 2 times , as i missed a turn and ended up on the motorway🤣 I thought i was gonna die that's how scared i was . I need to do a trip soon and dunno if i should choose motorway. Might do a practice run first, when is not that busy.

What if there’s no gap? Do you wait on the slip road and then start from first gear?

It is the speed, but many people do not realise that if you are going at say 40-60 miles per hour, someone going at 70 mph would be able to see you coming and break or overtake safely. My fear is not being on the motor way, it is joining traffic that i dont like. It just seems so unsafe to force yourself in front a car doing 70. But the bizarre thing is... A roads do not bother me, and i have done exactly the same thing on those! It is only the word motorway that i have attached fear to!
Just recently passed this channel helped massively
