    Oh, and if you need to pull your blower apart, I have already built and used/ proven my own set of bearing puller tooling that I'd be happy to ship to you. Just ship it back when done is all I'd ask. Just LMK anytime if you are in need.

    Thank you very much. I am actually in the process right now of doing a max effort hand porting of the blower and kong snout. I was planning on installing new bearings when done. I have a pilot bearing slide hamme /puller i normally use for this type of stuff. But if doesnt work i might have to take you up on that.

    Hey buddy. Wish you can point me out into the right direction here. Stock ls3 with whipple exhaust headers 1000cc injectors and tune. About to squeeze some more ponies with a ls9 cam however and johnsons 2116lsr lifters. What else do i need for the peace of mind? Im revving up to 6.4k . What kind of springs should i get ? Worth a trunion upgrade ? Im not doing an aftermarket cam because i dont really like them. Im doing the ls9 because of the stock feel. And possibility to rev up to 6.6. Im on a budget so i dont want to buy unnecessary parts but the critical parts to make my setup last. Also what kind and size of pushrods should i get ?

  • @exploringgodscountry
    @exploringgodscountry8 ай бұрын

    I put them in my LQ9 truck build. Quite a bit of overkill for my build. PITA to measure pushrod lengths though. Burnt through brass trunions so I had to order as second set of pushrod as I ditched those and went with yella terra rockers.

    @@noahtgarrett7164 the cheaper trunion kit... cam is custom grind I had a shop make was a while ago. Springs are nothing excessive the provided with cam. I didn't want to have to overcome a lot of spring pressure, wanted less rotating resistance.

    10295 or 10296 The ls do not need a high Volume pump, just put in the 10+ psi and you'll be all set

    Fortuitous for me that you're building your LS9 right now! And no offense intended, but you are now my guinea pig, since there's not a ton of LS9 build data out there, and I have lots of big block ( my latest in my cobra kit car has a Dart block and heads 540cid BBC with Holley Dominator EFI system) and small block experience (starting in 1981 on a 1967 Camaro convertible), but no LS experience. I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming, so I know how to get things done on my own, and I'm an Aerospace Engineer with over 30 years experience, mostly with rockets and missiles, so I crave data. I hope I can ask a question or two, since you seem to have done the right research and also seem to have the right mentality and approach to problem solving. So, my daily driver 2009 ZR1 just chewed-up an original lifter roller wheel face at 53000-ish miles. The engine is almost out, but with the heads pulled, I know it needs lifters and camshaft. I'll be reduilding it completely, but for now I have a question about your choice of lifters: QUESTION: Did you consider the Johnson 2126LSR version, and if so, why did you select the 2116LSR over the 2126LSR? It seems they are the same, lifter configuration, except the 2126 version adds "axle oiling", which I am assuming is similar to what we used to call HIPPO (HIgh Pressure Priority Oiling) for the roller wheel bearings and was usually an EDM produced passage providing pressurized oiling to the axle. Oh, and I did subscribe (which I never do - kudos) already. Thank you, EWood

    The 2126LSR with axle oiling has an even more tighter tolerance for preload (+/- .005" vs.+/- .010") you will find out its a PITA if you check your new rod length needed and find out you need a nominal size that is not common. You might get lucky tho...They also were not available when i was looking to buy. I feel the axle oiling is more of a benefit for hardcore race only engines that rev past 6600rpm on the regular basis. Weekend driven / Highway pull cars not necessary. Thanks for the sub!

    @@JohnFrancoNH Hi again John. I now have the Johnson 2126LSR in hand. I can confirm the preload and tolerance is 0.035" +/- 0.010", which is identical to the 2116LSR requirement. The 2126LSR only adds the axle oiling feature, as compared to the 2116LSR. The ST2125LSR (ST=Short Travel) requires the +/-0.005" tolerance due to the shorter total plunger travel before hard stop (0.055" I think?), when compared to the 2126LSR (0.093" -ish) and the OEM (0.115" maybe?) lifter as well. On axle oiling: First off, I do not have direct data, so YMMV, but... I live in Phoenix and I have run hyd roller lifters in Big Block Chevys since 1990. I also read and assimilate quite a bit of data. I fall into the camp of believers in the axle cooling benefit gained with priority axle oiling. Especially if you drive in traffic, or idle frequently. And live in Phoenix... With metal surface conditions and strength in rollers and needles already at the limits of modern metallurgy, lowering the max material temperatures during operation should afford appreciably more life. Idling in hot traffic reduces the splash oil that aids cooling of the rollers. Having a dedicated oil supply can prevent excessive roller component temperatures during those times. So that's my rationale for the axle oiling feature. Anyhow, just thought you'd wanna know! Have a Great Day!!
