I watched a few videos, said ok, got a good one found. Pump kit came in and I couldn’t find the video I thought I saved. Found yours and it is the best one I found! Pretty much crayons and coloring book, if a guy can’t replace his outboard water pump with your video and directions, he probably should not chew gum and walk! You did an awesome job, sir!

Great detail in your video!! Made the replacement of my friend's water pump much easier. Found the old pump wasn't working because the impeller key was missing. Shaft spins, impeller didn't. Quick rebuild (with your assistance) and it works great now. Thanks

Your Vids have been helpful for my E35ELCIG - 1981 Evinrude 35 hp. I am working on replacing the engine wiring harness as the motor stopped working after a themostat/ water pump replacement. The wiring is all green and cracking. Heck, the joined by orange wires "coils"..... the black single was green also and of course broken. TY

Very helpful video. Instead of gasket sealing compound on the bolt threads, would anti-seize (typically used by me on spark plugs) also work? It looks like the bolts in the Evinrude kit already have anti seize on them.

Just a tip; once you remove the keeper @4:50 you can screw the top nut back into the bottom part by a few threads, and then remove the rod without losing the nut. Can usually do it before un-bolting the lower unit too if you shift it to separate them.

I also took out a Philips screw next to the bottom flat head to help drain oil. When I reinstalled, I had issues putting the Philips back in and now can't seem to put in in or out of gear? It doesn't matter what I do the unit stays in neutral? What do you think I done wrong?

It's last regular use was by me in the early 90's and it had the annoying problem of popping out of gear. It moved a 14 ft skiff along pretty well when it still ran properly.

I also noticed the shifter in the motor housing was rubbing against the fuel line that wasn't helping the problem either.
