Johnson Blues King harp review (cheap, yes, good, no)

A review and attempted rehab of the approx. $8 Johnson Blues King harmonica. Disclaimer - the soundtrack bits behind the still photos were NOT recorded using this harmonica - for those bits I used a Conjurer. Bottom line - if you want a GOOD cheap harp, buy an Easttop T008k, a Fender Blues Deluxe, a Kongsheng Amazing 20 or any of the Conjurers. Don't bother with this one, unless, like me, you want to make a one-joke vid like this one here.

I ordered a Johnson harmonica a few years back. I tried it out. It was about what I expected. I ended up keeping the case and the cleaning cloth and decided the harp would not make a good paper weight and I threw it away.

Apparently not much has changed in the few years since. Mine is still on my desk but is inching its way to the bin.
It's very important to be picky about which Johnsons to play with. They're everywhere, cheap, low value and most come attached to problems you just don't want.

Man I can’t stand harps like that. Good work on it and all but yeah…it sucks and blows…you’re such a good player you still make it sound alright Tim! Thanks for the Johnson jokes lol 😂

Durn near lost a filling sucking on that Johnson, seriously. Thought I could fix it up but thought wrong (not the first time, I'm told, lol). And thanks for your continued support!

Years ago Musicians Friend cleared these out for a dollar. I bought a zillion of em and I still find 'em laying around in old boxes. Like an annoying relative that just shows up at your gig.

Yeah these are junk! The only thing that would help is a new comb. Not worth it though! the next cheapo you should try to fix is the Chicago Blues harp with the clear plastic comb. Probably gonna be another POS though. Nice video Tim. Stop playing with your Johnson now !! Sorry I couldn't resist.
