@@Fireglo Paul record is better than Mark in the chase, also Mark was in the show at least 3 years before the chase. He became a lot more knowledgeable during the chase. If any of the chasers were on the show now, they would easily get to the final question or final two. I hope Paul or Anne goes on the show one day Btw Anne was a phone a friend too but this was years before the chase she she gave her friend the right answer

There is an old episode of 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' where Anne Hegerty was a phone a friend for a non-celebrity contestant! It was before she was even on the chase I think.

zrlap, I already knew that Mark Labbett was a contestant. I distinctly remember Chris Tarrant’s remark “even the headmasters probably call him ‘sir’”. However, The Chase didn’t exist back then, so it wasn’t a crossover. Actually, when The Chase started, the only two chasers were Shaun and Mark, and I immediate remembered Mark from his appearance on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’.

Well Google was invented in 1998 and Wikipedia in 2001, so it is likely by the late 00's/early 10's there were some friends cheating or being told to cheat by their contestant, whether by a PC, laptop or smart phone when the answer was research-able within 30 seconds (which is most answers)

I wonder if a chaser were to do millionaire they’d get a million easily. I know Mark was on it years and years ago but this was before he was a chaser so surely his knowledge is much much more broad now than before he was on it, learning stuff from the other chasers etc.

Getting on millionaire is the hard part. The qualififation questions are designed so that mostly idiots come on.

@d b In the swedish one most peop+le would finish at about the 8th question and the hardest of those questions was at about a quiz level for 12-14 yearolds. I didnt say all of them are idiots I said it's designe so that "ordinary" people will qualify and only rarely will ther be someone who is really good and reaches question 13 before running out of lifelines. This strategy is well known because they want alot of people to make the expensive call on the qualifier question. At least that's how it worked in the swedish format. If 1,2 million people call the £1 call every week the production will always be in the black. For britian it would probably be 5million people and a 30p call though.

Anne Heggerty would go thr furthest in this show. Mark Labett won 32 grand and Shaun Wallace was in the weakest link but didn't win but now they've both gained a lot more knowledge that they would smash both shows

Yeah, it was a one off for charity and it got such good reviews that they decided to do it as a proper series

Paul from The Chase should know that “percent” means “of a hundred” and therefore 110% is an not an accurate figure.

Actually percent can be more than 100% if comparing with a previous figure. The stock market for example you could be up 150% if your stake has raised double and a half of the previous figure.
