They all were characters. Johnny is probably the one who was the "normal guy" that was able even just by his presents to resolve things and move things further. He is what largely held the community together, he understood everybody, and was the one being reasonable and resolving difficulties othesr put themselves and everybody into. Imagine the degree of Kenny & Peter suffering if there was no Johnny for them. From all of them, I love hearing him the most. Lets hope we learn from this interview/s. As Peter thought he was strong & discipined - & what happened, and unresolved potential. We need to have discipline to work in a good way, and maybe we, next generations would deliver the works they hoped to reify to cure humanity.
I still wish I saved Peter's voicemail that he left for me in around 2000-2001. I will also never forget calling his phone and anyone who is old enough will remember the old style voicemails when you called someone where a friendly operator/woman's voice would say "You have reached the voice mail-box of (then here it would be the person actually saying their name)". So on Peter's it was the woman's voice saying "you have reached the voice mail-box of" and then you would here Pete say "Petuh Steele" (heavy Brooklyn accent). RIP Greenman and thank you for always being so overly kind.
I once met Johnny and Sal at a Pale Horse show and they were incredibly humble. I’m 29 from Birmingham UK and they’re in their 50s from Brooklyn NY but we bonded over metal. Such an amazing memory I’ll always cherish.
Peter... are you listening? You made it, babe. Reluctantly or otherwise, you made it.
It's really sad to hear how Peter was all rejuvenated, and excited to write a new record, but didn't get there. Travesty. I want that record. I would really love to listen to some new Type O music that I've never heard before. And if he was apparently just phoning in the writing on the last two records, we may have been robbed of something really special. I miss this band terribly. Nice interview, I enjoyed it. I always got the impression that Johnny was the glue that held the band together. Maybe I'm dead wrong.

Excellent interview. Great quetions and flow. Johhny seems like a good guy. Never met him but met peter josh many times. My cousin was the guitarist in Fallout and i used to watch them practice in joshs basement. This was late 70s early 80s.... even then as teenagers they were so freaking good. Great interview bud, great guest!
Awesome interview! Always one of my favourite bands.
I love the insights into the creative process. I've been wondering this stuff for years
At 42 I didn't discover TON until 2021, and I now play it every day sometimes for hours. It's the only band that I don't get tired of listening to, because there is so much variety. If I want atmospheric, I can listen to Red Water, or punk, there's Angry Itch, upbeat I dont wanna be me. It's crazy how good this band was.
Jason Green: something about you reminds me of a character from Heavy Metal, but i can't put my finger on whom. I say this with total love and respect. It might be another animated rock thing, too ...but it's weird. I'll go hunt around and get back to ya. Hope all is rad in your world, btw!
Unless you’re from NY you don’t get the humor in their songs. They were great, but the double entendres were masterful. The best ball breakers I’m sure.
A great interview and insight on how the band actually was behind the scenes.

Love the snowboarding story lol and a green circle is the easiest, blue square intermediate, black diamond advanced, double black diamond expert. I read Rex's book some years back and I was cracking up reading about Phil being scared shitless. And if memory serves he took off his skis and walked down. Rex had skied a bit so he was having a great time laughing his ass off watching phil white knuckle it back to the lodge!
Oh nooo 🐈😸😸 kitty.....😢
Type O will have always have an intrinsic influence on me, those albums till these day are getting me through difficult times. Johnny is right, nothing will ever sound like it and it's still gloriously confusing today
I always liked Johnny’s attitude: he’s super nice, cool, down to earth and, of course, an eccellent drummer!! He’s so “normal” (like all Type o) and I love his way to laugh, in videos is possible to hear him laughing all the time 😂 I would like to have a beer with him 😉

And then MY GARBAGE STATE doesn't want to send Peter where he belongs......
