I remember as a kid, every Sunday night my father, two brothers and I would listen to Dragnet on the radio. Johnny's copper clapper capper is one of my favorites.

Classic "Talent" of two great "Star's" in their own right ! I miss those men and those days of civility, intelligence, and respect for each other and their acting and show business careers. One is to note their own personal reputations for refining their achievements in their talents and the quality of their professional creativeness !

The Late Jack Webb Had a Great Voice for Narration , He did a lot of the Military Training Videos, That I remember seeing during my Basic Training Days etc, May he RIP & is sadly missed by all of his Fans etc.

Carson stated Jack Webb loved Jazz, this led to his first marriage to Julie London, a Jazz singer and the mother of Webb's two daughters. Julie London was in one of Webb's production as Dixie McCall on Emergency.

Webb also starred in a radio show "Pete Kelly's Blues" as a musician who got involved with some shady stuff. They did feature some music on occasion... if memory serves.

Comic writing & delivery at its best. What a great sport Mr. Webb was to do this Dragnet parody, I love this! When Robert Deniro was the guest on Inside the Actor's Studio, host James Lipton asked Deniro if he would recite the classic line from Taxi Driver "Are you talkin' to me?" for the student actors, writers and directors and Deniro flatly refused. What a wet sock.

Maybe he’s just one of those actors what has to get in the zone to do a line. Or maybe he just got tired of people asking him to do it.

Some actors simply won't do "in character" recitations. Jean Stapleton for example never did Edith's voice once she left the show despite being asked thousands of times.

No. Jack Webb was not a guest that night. Johnny said they were playing clips from past shows. This sketch does exist, as a complete clip, by itself, on KZread. Sorry, I don't have the link, but you can run a search on KZread for it.
