SNL was different by 1987, but it was -- by no means -- bad. I consider '87 through 2000 to be a consistent period (excluding '95 thru '96). Jan Hooks, Phil Hartmann, Billy Crystal, Rob Schneider, Martin Short, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey and several others were comedic greats.

Well, considering this was 1988, I beg to differ. And thankful for Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Kate McKinnon and everyone in between, SNL has remained relevant for over 40 years. And, what's up with all the capital letters Mr Thomas?

@@craigjgomez SNL isn't relevant anymore. Their relevance ended about five years ago. SNL is all-propaganda, all-the-time now.

What's so ironic about Chevy Chase's comments on Siskel and Ebert is that on their show, they gave "Two Thumbs Up" to Funny Farm.

This was during a writers strike so from march to August 1988 Carson wrote mainly all his jokes

Chevy was a comic genius. Funny Farm is his second best film (after Fletch). Love the old Carson shows (except for the casual racism, misogyny and slightly offensive humor). 📺

Why wouldn't they use German Shepherds instead of Poodles ? Shepherds have thicker fur and stronger or denser bones than Poodles have as well.
