Since Hackman wasn't even in Fort Apache, such speculations are asinine in the extreme
I'm sitting here remembering Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner, and Clark Gable in Magonombo, I can't spell it and my spell checker is asleep. I don't remember Wayne in it.
I only have two heros--my DAD and John Wayne.
John Wayne’s connection to Mogambo ? He wasn’t in it so what was the conflict between he and Gable ?
Best sidekick George Gabby Hayes. In order I like are as follows. Gabby Hayes Randolph Scott John Wayne Joel McCrae Robert Mitchum Ken Curtis Gary Cooper
Marion Morrison.
John Wayne was exempt to serving in the military having 4 children. Furthermore, John Wayne had a ruptured appendix along with other injuries from football.
I have always admired people like the Duke who lived their beliefs. Or Dan Blocker who was very liberal. Blocker was an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War and stated that if the U.S. got more involved he would leave the country. He did, moving his family to Switzerland and flying in to film Bonanza. They walked the talk unlike most of today's personalities.
Rip John Wayne u gave so much to our world
the best actors, even when they don't learn method acting, use their personal experiences to shape their roles. Burt Lancaster did so and some of his best films invoke his life when he made them: The Swimmer is probably the best example. Where an actor really transcends his art is when he plays somebody who is emphatically not himself, and makes that role perfectly aiuthentic. Lancaster did this with the Prince de Salina in The Leopard. The director resented the part being given to him, but Lancaster worked so hard and succeeded so well that they became friends. They did another film later and to get it made, Lancaster pacified the insurance company by guaranteeing to direct the film if Visconti could not. That shows the depth of the trust and mutual respect they developed out of what started as downright enmity on Visconti's part.
There are no words to say he was one of the greats
John Wayne was the greatest ever. He never had to act. All he had to do was to be himself.
Reviled by some for his political convictions and blunt way of expressing them, John Wayne, if he were alive today and younger, he would be a hugely popular political figure in today's politics. What was interpreted as a rough and 'mince no words' manners is what America loves today. 'John Wayne for President!' .. too bad it never happened.' A Great man.
In 1955 John Wayne was the first choice for Matt Dillon on the long running western Gunsmoke. But Mr. Wayne declined and recommended his good friend James Arness to play the Marshal.
He was a great American.
i still love watching his movies
People loved John Wayne, most people of that generation enjoyed his Cowboy movies and his patriotic war movies improve the morality of the troops during the war. God bless him. RIP
From what I've read the friendship of the Kennedys and Sinatra was short lived. RFK found connection of Sinatra and the mafia. Sinatra had a helicopter pad built because he thought JFK was going to stay at home. Kennedy stayed with Bing Crosby, who was a Republican. Sinatra never got over it. This is what I've read. I personally don't know this.
I love John Wayne All the Country 😍 Jackie McAdams 1:56 1:57
He was awesome and my friend Alan Jackson jmm Jackie McAdams ❤❤❤ 2:49
Was quite a unique person Right wing patriot Believed in the american way of life right or wrong Too bad cancer got him in the end couldnt defeat the inevitable!
Love me some Burt Lancaster.
but he was right, politically. and they hated that. he was still right.
I guess Paycose Bill got the better of Slim.
What a wonderful recounting of a legend. Masterful and telling, you did a great job detailing his relationships with other legends of the big and little screen. Will you do another recalling his relationships with those that he befriended or admired?
I'm hearing that John Wayne struggled with everyone to have a healthy relationship.😊😊
Eastwood all day everyday
What movie did Hackman and Wayne play in?
John Wayne was a nice guy 😍 Jackie McAdams t❤❤❤❤❤ 4:07
If John wayne would have said to me let's rob the bank I would definitely would have gone with him
We need him now big time
I always skipped the movies with John Wayne, there was something about him which I didn't like.
Who would win in a fight, Marion Robert Morrison, or John Wayne Gacy?
He was not a hero. He played heros in several movies. He begged out of military service during WWII, choosing to make movies about being in military service.
draft dodger...i find it amusing he played so many military heros ...during WW2, jarheads mocked him relentlessly
To me, he seemed to be an unlikeable and humourless person who believed the characters he played defined him.
Marion actually believed his on screen persona. His right wing politics sucked.
If he was such a great American, why did he choose to continue acting than joining the military and do some real fighting. The was extremely self centred.
The more stories l hear about him the more l hate him. He was a real creep.
I think Wayne was a one trick pony: A silver screen macho. His movies were basically "Cowboys and Indians" except maybe for "The Quiet Man," which was not much more than the usual John Wayne movie but with an Irish flat cap instead of a Stetson. Above all he was an intellectual lightweight. His Old West never existed.
Racist John Wayne, had Orange County airport named after him. IMO, and I am entitled to it, it is shameful to have an airport named for him. But, think whatever you want. OK
Indeed, Hackman was and is too far over-rated. He definitely did a good job in some parts, but overall he was but a hack, man.
