I love the stabbing rhythm guitar chords in the choruses. It’s like the guitar is “crying out” in pain, with the theme of the song.

There were a lot of great hit songs in the 1980s, and this is one of them. I really liked this song then... However, only now has it acquired real significance for me, since only now this song touched my personal real feelings. 

This song is the one you need to just stop your car or pull over and cry over after a tough time remembering some good moments you had with a passed loved one. Never forget to hug yourself, the person you loved would want that for you. Just keep remembering the best times and know they will always love you.

I grew up in the 1980s .I was a jr. in high school in 1984 . Man this song put me right back in 1984. My mom and dad are both deceased now. When I list to this song it bring back so many memories.I never forget John Waite he a bad boy.

I am missing my (ex) wife and kids. I left, had a stroke or maybe the order was the other way around, we'll never know. But there is no way back.
