ANDY WAS MORE THE SMARTASS WILD BOY.. JOHN WAS MORE THE BAD BOY.. THEY BOTH HAD AN UNBELIEVABLE AND UNIQUE STYLE AND PRESCENCE ABOUT THEM.. THEY WERE THE KINGS OF THE 80S.. MEMBERS OF THE BEST BAND OF THE 80S, DURAN DURAN.

These two play off very well with each other. They are my favorite duran duran members.

JT is the most handsome man of the world in 1985! It is true! I love him very much!

perhaps you dont know that drugs can be so addictive just like psychotropic drugs, nicotine, and alcohol. and some people can be more addicted than others. even though they actually dont wanna take drugs but their body is craving for it. people only judging john for doing drugs despite that he's clean now without bother to find out the reason why he turned to drugs. we are all addicted to something as a coping mechanism. only we're not living in public display like John where everyone can see.

I'm not speculating too much to say that most people who get addicted have some trauma in childhood or in their past so probably this may be true of John and maybe he surpressed memories of something that happened to him. I'm not saying it did but that is what statistics show. He had an addiction to cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol most notable. But he would use drugs while drinking. And he only ever had a cigarette in his hand when he was drinking. Now his partying ways were when he had time on his hands not on stage. He finally realized how unhappy he was. But one night he went out with Amanda's brother to a bar and to a house for dope and he supposed to be home by 10pm but got home at 10am the next day. That's day he decided he needed to seek help and he did. He said that was the best day of his life! He's been clean and sober over 20 years now. So he definitely went to hell and back before he got help he needed.

Right. I don't envy the public display of one's life, must be HELL to deal with.

Oh wow! I still would have loved JT even if I had realised what was going on with him here if I had watched it at the time, but seeing this now, makes me feel sad for him, but happy now he is drug and drink free :)) I can't wait to read about this and other things that went on with him in his life through his autobiography next autumn :))).. still lovin u now JT and can't wait to see u in Dec at the M.E.N

andy was just as much of a cokehead as john. only andy never think he ever had problem and never went into rehab. while john chose to breaking the habit and clean himself up. good thing about john which i admire so much is that he didnt succumb to his addiction. infact he's still more successful eventhough he was coked up than most people sober.

April Gosa It was 1995 JT went to rehab, so it will be around 1996/1997 that he left DD to pursue a solo career

@@KayleighNatasha 95 got sober. Left in 97. Stayed with Duran until late 1995 in which year he got in rehab. 4 solo albums from 1996-1999. And then he got married to Gela.

WOWWWWW!!!! They were so messed up and look awful for it, too!!!! That's excess for you!!! It's funny for a moment but then unbelievably sad. Sooo glad they're both clean now. LOVE all 5 of these guys b/c they will always be Duran Duran that way! Even with their independent, separate groups and projects, when they come together, even if, just 4 now, it's still great music and great entertainment!!!! Always be my favorite band and now I want to marry John instead of Nick! lol LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them Always!!!!!

Unfortunately, that's true. Drug abuse just about killed John, he had to leave the band to get help for addiction in 1995. If you see pictures or video of him from that time frame you can see how rail-thin he was. Andy handled it somewhat better, but he had more self-control than John.

By the time they made Big Thing I saw them play Roseland for that small venue tour they did to promote the album.....JOhn looked skeletal. His face didn't even look the same. A big difference from when I seen them in 87. @@SarahB1863

@@daviddeacon8544 I think it’s because the expectations are different. That behaviour is expected from metal or rock and roll stars, they’re supposed to be “messy”. Pop stars are expected to be cleaner. It’s a different standard. I’m sure there’s a lot of factors that play into that..

And it’s bc they were the hottest band in the world at that time!!! I’d say 9/10 females at that time wanted John Taylor or any of the Duran members. John Taylor was dating Renee Simonsen.. look her up. She was absolutely as gorgeous as he was. I was 14 and man was I obsessed with him! 😍

MaximumBigSurprise I was 11 at the time. How naive I was back then but still love John no matter what. He’s great.
