With a professional career spanning 5 decades, Roberts is a household name for anyone working in the field of energy geopolitics. He started as a reporter for Reuters in 1968, and has subsequently worked for Platts (12 years as a managing editor), Financial Times Energy, Energy Intelligence (Roberts was one of the original founding editors of Energy Compass), Middle East Economic Digest, Business Monitor International (BMI) and Al Hayat (the Arab World’s first independent daily newspaper). Since 1991, Roberts has been a senior partner at Methinks - a consultancy specializing in the interrelationship between energy, economic development, and politics. In his long career as a correspondent, bureau chief and analyst, he has worked in the Middle East, Asia, North America and the UK. He is currently a member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Group of Experts on Gas and is also a UK-based Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center and Global Energy Center.
