Still makes me wonder how great a game that would have been against the Broncos for the Superbowl that year. What a matchup it could have been.

John Randle’s NFL story is an inspirational one. The man had to sneak weights to his body in order to weigh enough. Once he was given a chance the man was a monster.

John Randle was a VOLCANIC football player, who utalised being "short" to the absolute fullest. Being 6ft 1', he used his lower attacking point to destroy linemen from the bottom up on a weekly basis.

I met him twice. He gave my nephew and I a tour of his place and signed my nephews football. Such an awesome guy! And he's definitely not a "smaller guy. "... dude was a BEAST!

I remember when Dilfer went after Randle after that play. Even the guys in the booth were laughing, incredulous that Dilfer would even dare 🤣😂🤣

as a packers fan, he was truly a 🐐

I remember as a kid seeing him on the cover of NFL Xtreme 2,he had the cool face paint and was always an intimidating and great player

He was, and still is, one of my favorite players of all time. Such a shame he never won a SB.

Last year, my family and I had a chance to meet him at an autograph convention in Chicago. Great player and great guy.

Lions fan here. John Randle was one of my favorite opposing players. His determination, love for the game, his talent, and yeah, his mouth. Loved the mic'ed up John Randle.

Those we're the days. How I miss Minnesota playing defense like they did back when.

I firmly believe that Randle was the first ideal 3TECH/UT that guys like Dungy, Angelo, & L.Smith studied as a means to build their entire TAMPA 2 defensive scheme around for their base 4-3 seven man zone defense.

As a bears fan I have all the respect in the world for John. Loved his style of play…he was a menace

Vikings fan here. Randle is still my favorite player of all time and one of the best trash talkers ever in the NFL. We could have used some one like him this year.

buddy of mine was friends with Todd Bouman who was a backup QB for the vikes from 97-01 when I lived there. After home games on Sunday night we went out in Mpls with a ton of the players. Randle was a freaking great and fun guy to hang out with. bar bills at times were 10 to 20K and players(my measily 200 bucks) were all split up. it was fun times.

The NFL tends to judge a player by all the physical traits they have but that doesn't judge a persons heart. John Randle was 260 lbs. of heart. Always good to see guys like Randle and another Viking Adam Thielen come from small programs undrafted with a great work ethic succeed.

Man was so ferocious they took his face paint away calling it "war paint" it made him too powerful for player's safety... the leagues insurance wouldn't cover it! Lol I loved this guy!

I grew up on when Mr. Randle was towards the end of his career but I was old enough to remember how crazy watching him play was and I'm not even a Vikes fan.

It really made me appreciate Hard Knocks later on the guys who come from out of nowhere to be the best players in the league. Diamonds in the rough.

What a great attitude. No wonder this guy is a winner, not just at football, but at life.

For a good few years he was the most dominant interior linemen in the game undrafted undersized but one of the greatest characters ever play the game I am glad he was a viking and went into the Hall of Fame as a Viking

John Randle, Lawrence Taylor, and Ray Lewis but fear into the hearts of the offensive coordinators and quarterbacks, and possibly some running backs.

He was relentless player with the biggest heart for the game, he refused to be denied! Tasmanian devil with should pads on, feared and respected by QB's, they knew where he was lined up at all times! He is by far and away on of the best Vikings of all time, no one could match intensity.

For me, I feel he's the Kirby Puckett of the Vikings.

As a lifelong Vikings fan, I know we suck, this guy is my favorite Viking of all time. No quit in him. An absolute pleasure to watch.
