"Abraham "reasoned" that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again." *Hebrews 11:19* Faith is "reason perfected" ! : “In Scripture, faith involves placing trust in what you have reason to believe is true. Faith is not a blind, irrational leap into the dark. So faith and reason cooperate on a biblical view of faith. They are not intrinsically hostile.” J.P. Moreland

There is no reason to reason without God as its foundation. Faith is the basis of reason. We are here, God revealed to us why. We now base all our reason on his word. If we start with our reason and add God ontop we have made our reason God. God's word is true, because God (who cannot lie) has revealed it, now we can reason. If we start our reason is true... based on what? Our reason? The modern thought is: I reason that my reason is true, now let's reason whether God is true... You are not God, God is.

Paul Washer once said that Osteen is God's wrath on America. In other sw words people want whzt they can get from him rather than Him for who He is. Lord please help me seek Your face and not Your hands and love You for You. In Jesus' name Amen.

On observation number five, he means the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, for that is what gives us such an assurance. Now, that is knowing Christianity's truthfulness and reasonableness. We don't need further evidences than that one in order to see that it is, indeed, reasonable. However, in showing Christianity's truthfulness (1 Peter 3.15) we are to give apologia (reasons) in addition to the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, for that is a commandment. As much as I love Piper (one of my favorites preachers), I don't think he sees this distinction between knowing/showing. R. C. did!

Why do all these videos say "Live" when they are all recorded? Seems deceptive for a Christian ministry.

Chris... Ligonier has Live events (both in-studio and over teleconference) peppered at various times throughout the month with Q&A 's and other presentations (they put on for ministry partners and other supporters). The KZread channel is just an extension of that... And as with any KZread channel host, the logo is simply put into the interface... and can be randomly changed. The nature of KZread is an outlet for individuals (of whatever validity in background, profession, vocation) to project themselves to the world in en-masse... but Ligonier is a multi-regional ministry organization with a nearly half-a-century pedigree. They are financed by ministry partners and KZread is simply a newer (more novel) means of extension to reach an otherwise fairly uninformed Christian viewership with among the most sound, Godly teaching and resources. This live logo has simply remained on from one of the live events... and the trivial rotation of the "Live" distinction would be a waste of productivity with what is already likely a stretched staff because of the stewardship of human resources. Especially in the cultural climate we have now that is paying people to not work ... this discrepancy is leaving a limited pool of skilled people who also have integrity (the alignment of these qualities is in short supply). It is a means of Grace for this kind of spiritual understanding to be placed in the midst of the free-for-all of spiritual lunacy that has become the -KZread Church and Seminary. The frivolous minutiae of concern to constantly rotate the live logo from the standard ministry logo is unjustifiable considering this perpetuity and streaming of multiple events. The emphasis of your question would seem to indicate your unfamiliarity with Ligonier ministries and even RC Sproul... and therefore this has quite hopeful implications for your discovery of Ligonier which is a gracious confirmation of the ministries use of this platform. As time goes on, the enrichment you will come to know through Ligonier will also broaden and inform your mannerisms, appropriation and appreciation for guiding one's decorum and understanding that is fitting of the study and worship of God. Such benefit will eliminate the lack of understanding that is inherent in your question... which will bring you to the realization of asking better questions. Hopefully in two months, you've progressed noticeably farther than is indicated here. God bless

Live means it was recorded live. I am 45 years old. I would buy cassette tapes or cd that would say live. I understood it was a recording of a live performance.

@@adamsantesson9146 - I disagree. Greek logic was developed by both Aristotle and the Stoics. But Western Civilization's backbone of the principle of non-contradiction that helped it develop science before the rest of the world comes more from its Hebraic than its Hellenic heritage.

@@adamsantesson9146 I went back and listened again and I did not hear any put down of either Aristotle or logic. On the contrary, he affirmed it implying that all healthy human minds functions logically the same although there are different systems logic just as there are different systems of mathematics. But he moves on to the difference between the spiritual and the non-spiritual mind which suggests that the one has more evidence of a certain kind than the other. Note the contrast here was among the Jews. The contrast between the Greek way of thinking and that of the Jews is not the point he is making here.

I can't just have faith in a deity that I suspect doesn't even exist. I'd like to. Some can do that. I just can't get past the idea that Christianity is just a bronze-age superstition.

have you considered the "Overall" Good that has come from Judaism and consequently, Christianity (of course some will remain selfish and do evil in the name of religion), but overall.

Actually, I believe that no one can believe in God with their own power. Those who believe have been brought to that belief through the opening of their eyes by God Almighty, not by any nature or effort of their own. Just try praying a simple prayer for the Lord to open Your eyes to His love and truth

Well its time for you to stop seeing Christianity as a bronze-age superstition. Check out Catholic videos on the existence of God, like an aristotelian-thomist cosmological argument and how much of todays popular bible criticism is actually flawed in the sence that it pressuposes a certain worldview and changes its historical methods, thus not really appropriate when you concier its validity. Hence you should not only listen to secular scholarship but actually get a sound ide aof it, maybe through debates.
