John Parr - Restless Heart 12" (W/ Rare Extended Mix) [The Running Man]

What can I say about The Running Man, it is one of my favorite Sci-Fi/Dystopian/Arnie movies of all time, it's so amazingly 80's I love it! The end of the film features a great song performed by John Parr and co-written by Harold Faltermeyer called "Restless Heart" aka "Running Away With You (Restless Heart)." I recently discovered a 1988 UK 12" vinyl that had an elsuive "Extended Version" of Restless Heart which I have never heard before as well as a rare track called "Crystal Eye" and the single version of Restless Heart. I captured the audio from the vinyl using Audacity and hopefully the quality is as high as I hoped for! I really hope you enjoy this gem and I sure hope...That It Hits The Spot!

More truth in movies than in news.
The very first words of this song is "This is no game." Which is very spot on with the motif of this movie. There are a few other choice lyrics which also fit perfectly with the movie. The Running Man was a movie that was very ahead of its time, it predicted the future a lot better than some other movies from that era. In fact one of the earliest predictions that came true was the Gladiators game show that came on (in different formats around the world) where contestants would challenge lycra Spandex wearing fighters.

Thanks for posting this version of this amazing song! 👍👍👍 I'm at a loss as to why it wasn't a massive hit. Back in the day, I used to replay over and over the end credits from my VHS recording of the movie just to listen to this song.

hyun ahn I'm surprised I couldn't find it, especially with the film's cult following. This extended mix came off a 1988 vinyl from the U.K. but I believe it was only released on this vinyl, and 2 cds the same year.

The extended mix has actually been re-released, albeit not in the best form I'd have wanted to see it... Parr's 2011 album "Letter to America" features a fake live version of Restless Heart (kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5eDs7J9dM6Xhs4.html), which is actually this very same 12" mix. Well, not exactly, the two versions differ in length by a few seconds and many effects and guitar fills have been added to the 2011 release. If you can stand the fake crowd sounds, this version is very fun to listen to.

@@GTHelkaan thanks for the tip! I've been searching for a version of this song with an ending, as the fade-out at the end of the studio versions drives me crazy. The cheesy "live" effects don't bother me; I think it fits very well with the earnestness and energy that makes this song so charming. Cheers!
