It's clear that John's main joy in the garden is to kick stuff.
This guy cracks me up... he's a madman in the flower bed, hacking away with trimmers and rake! What a lot of energy!
I really appreciate your showing all the maintenance work you do on your borders. It helps when planning something new in the garden to know in advance the amount of effort it will take. And the dog is soooo cute!
Another great video john👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing. I was planning on planting miscanthus in my yard this year. I'm all about the perennials over here.
Thanks for keeping me informed during my lockdown gardening obsession
You missed a bit hahaha, only kidding. Thanks for another informative video 👍
Thanks, I have bought a "thingy" to cut everything back but did not know what or when also learnt I need some ear protection LOL
Great video, I really enjoyed watching. Thank you for uploading. SurvivalAustria
I.....love it.
Chainsaw massacre - well almost 😂😂
Thanks John 🙏🏽 I have cut back our Miscanthus last week but I left about 15-20cm from the ground, I could see we already have some new shoots coming through. Would you recommend I go back and cut closer to the ground or will it be too late if some shoots coming through? Best wishes (I don’t have an electric trimmer and we have a lot is miscanthus so I did with manual shears/secateurs)
I did not know the Miscanthus should be cut down flush with the ground. If it ever stops raining in Tennessee I'll go back out to the garden and cut some more.
Many thanks for showing us how it is done. You are wonderful at demonstrating! I am in Melbourne Australia where we are approaching th end of summer. I have a mixed border including many perennials. I don't know which ones to leave until end of winter or early spring and which ones to .cut back at the end of summer. Can you please offer some suggestions? I have: penstemon, geranium rozanne, various cranesbills (kiovo, Mavis Simpson), asters (Little Carlow and others), swan milkweed (for butterflies), salvias (Marine Blue, nemerosa, Anthony Parker, Love and Wishes, semiatrata, Amistad), heliotrope, hakenochloa macra aurea, stipa gigantea "Beth Chatto". If this is too time-consuming some general advice would be helpful. :)
Yes John. Love seeing you kick the shiite out of those plants
Arenthe miscanthus blades sharp like pampas grass, or soft? I’d like to grow it for mulch and some bedding for my geese.
Another great video John , Can you please tell me when to cut back on my pampas grass still looking good but when the best time to cut back cheers ...

Within the next month would be best. And it will flower this year. There are a few videos on pampas grass on this channel if you would like more info
I have Miscanthus Giganteus that I have to cut back, then I mulch it and put it back on top the mound? John.....good, bad, ok? Thoughts?

Sounds good to me.
I have a jasmine with green foliage that is healthy. Should I leave that, or cut it back to grow fresh this spring?

I would only cut it back if it’s getting too big. But if you do cut it back it still should flower in the year
if you tie up into bunches before you cut its easier to clear up, less effort.
Buddy, can I not just let it grow without cutting it back?
too funny:)
Why would you plant that invasive crap!!!?

It is great for planting around the unsightly telephone pole & guide wire base the city decided to put dead center of my beautiful front yard. No more having to weed eat around them & if it spreads & makes a bigger base around each- yay for me.
