Yes thats very true. took my old ride with a big ol V8 into the bay at the oil change shop just the other day when i pulled in they asked in a joking manner... You got no emissions on that motor, I told em Nope trying to conserve horsepower, they laughed and liked the car, that was cool. liked your post thanks.

John is easily the most interesting character in the movie. Not the hoodlum you initially think he is but a much deeper character. His part, & that of Carol (Mackenzie Phillips) are beautifuly played by both actors & add another dimension to a film that was groundbreaking in its day & remains influential today.

We lived for street racing in the 60’s into the 70’s then have been involved in Professional racing ever since. Never in the hundreds of street races and several thousand races at the track did did I or anyone I ever known that races stage the cars then do a stare down with the other driver. That’s Hollywood BS. Only time you ever even look in the direction of the other car is to see if they are pulling up to stage then all you’re looking at is the flagger on the street or the Christmas tree at the race track. You look in any other direction you will be late at the start and greatly lessen your chances of winning.
