I've always loved listening to this guy and his amazing bands. His playing is so fascinating, as he has quite an aggressive attack and always such interesting note selection. You can recognize his playing, it's like the old 70s feel except technically better. Amazing player even now (2024)!

Agreed! I saw him on his farewell tour with the old Mahavishnu material about 5 years ago, and at 75, he was still playing the kind of runs very few players can do at any age; amazing! He seems to have taken very good care of his health, thank goodness; we need him around as long as possible!

@@kerrylee4633 Yeah, I hear you. McLaughlin is ALSO great for the varied styles he plays. THAT could be the thing that separates him from the other guitarists. But Hendrix's "Red House" from "In the West" is possibly the ultimate electric blues "performance" of all time if you add the extra component of him singing AND playing.

@@shootfirst2097 Hendrix and McLaughlin are on their own plane. They are both guitarists that should never be compared with anyone. I also agree with you about Red House. The only electric blues performance that would even be the same realm would be Duane Allman on Loan Me A Dime.
