Lyrics:
I am driving up 85 in the
Kind of morning that lasts all afternoon
Just stuck inside the gloom
4 more exits to my apartment but
I am tempted to keep the car in drive
And leave it all behind
Cause I wonder sometimes
About the outcome
Of a still verdictless life
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, why Georgia, why?
I rent a room and I fill the spaces with
Wood in places to make it feel like home
But all I feel's alone
It might be a quarter life crisis
Or just the stirring in my soul
Either way I wonder sometimes
About the outcome
Of a still verdictless life
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, why Georgia, why?
So what, so I've got a smile on
But it's hiding the quiet superstitions in my head
Don't believe me
Don't believe me
When I say I've got it down
Everybody is just a stranger but
That's the danger in going my own way
I guess it's the price I have to pay
Still "everything happens for a reason"
Is no reason not to ask myself
If I am living it right
Am I living it right?
Am I living it right?
Why, tell me why
Why, why Georgia, why?

No kidding! There was none of that then. There were only lighters aflame during most of the concerts I went to, on my own @12 in later 80s, & into some of the 2000s. The phones are SO Distracting, ppl trying to tape things & whatnot, they get in the way of actually seeing the stage. It's like, Just watch the show, for everyone's sake!

I was definitely at that concert. I was about 14 and my mom let my 17 year old sister and I drive up from our tiny town to Birmingham to see John Mayer. It was amazing. Little did I know that in less than ten years, this would be my theme song when I moved from my hometown to Atlanta. Though I'm sure it speaks to pretty much everyone in their early/mid 20s, but it makes me happy that I know what if feels like to drive up 85 and ask "why Georgia?"

We need to ask ourselves from time to time "Am I Living It (Life) Right?" Sometimes you've got to say "What the Fuck? Make your move" Quote from Tom Cruise's Risky Business (1983). Watch it if you haven't. It's the 1st time I remember hearing WTF.

Something that makes me like John is even after so many awards and story to tell , he's still the same guy with the same simplicity when all started and unlike many artists , he did not sell himself , and continues to make music with feeling and not music of moment as many other artists.

5 Years ago I discovered this wonderful man. Changed my life got me through the good times, the bad, everything never felt so in touch with an artist than with John Mayer. Got to see him in Atlanta this year in August and when he started playing I just bursted out crying, never would have imagined going to a concert and doing that but that's the power of music. He inspired me to start my own youtube and I just made my first cover and nothing better than starting with one of his songs, and mark my words one day I'm gonna play with him I don't care how long it takes!....

I remember when this song came out, I was approaching my 25th birthday and the lyrics "worried about the outcome of a still verdictless life" and "quarter-life crisis" really stuck out with me. At the time I had dropped out of college with less than a year left for my degree and I was just working and living a fruitless life. I think this song really got me to get my life in order (or at least an order I needed). I ended up joining the Army for 6 years. Now Im out of the Army and back in college

I was so stressed about my future a d being able to support myself and my son. 25 and only halfway thru college, and working, and running my house on my own. It was hard!! But i made it through and finished college at 30 years old. I felt so behind my peers. But I found my calling (Corporate Recruiting) and making over 6 figures. Bought my own home. Had another son. Its going pretty good:)

Good song. He is known as a pop artist, but i saw a guitar magazine article from like 2004 and he was labeled the 24th best strat player of all time. (strat = blues). That was 2004, he's even better now.

0:15 I am driving up 85 in the kind of morning That lasts all afternoon, I'm just stuck inside the gloom Four more exits to my apartment But I am tempted to keep the car in drive and leave it all behind 'Cause I wonder sometimes about the outcome of a still verdict less life Am I living it right, am I living it right? Am I living it right Why, why Georgia, why? I rent a room and I fill the spaces with wood in places To make it feel like home but all I feel's alone It might be a quarter life crisis, just a stirrin' in my soul Either way I wonder sometimes about the outcome of a still verdict less life Am I living it right, am I living it right? Am I living it right? Why, why Georgia, why? So what, so I've got a smile on But it's hiding the quiet superstitions in my head Don't believe me, don't believe me when I say I've got it down Everybody's just a stranger but that's the danger in going my own way I guess it's a price I have to pay, still everything happens for a reason Is no reason not to ask myself if I'm living it right Am I living it right, am I living it right? Why tell me, why Why, why Georgia, why🎤🎶

+Reggae Fan If you think Good Ole Days is better than what John has written, you haven't heard enough of him. Check out "Neon" and his cover or Jimi Hendrix's "Bold As Love." John has a whole nother level of diversity and musicianship in his guitar playing. I agree, Doherty has a much fuller voice, but his guitar skills simply can't match what John can do. They have different styles, so in my opinion, you can't say that either one's music is "better."
