I love John Mayer songs comment sections. People seem to genuinely care about him, but not in an angry way like with some fandoms. There is a genuine camaraderie here. People open up and relate to one another. I know this happens elsewhere in youtube comments but there is something about John Mayer songs and john mayer fans. It is really fun to be apart of this gently aging fandom of people who love music and who love john. So thank you.

But now, I am letting it go and moving on with my life." The song makes me feel like you can always change who you are, improve yourself, let go of the past, and start a new life. :)

Same. I'm glad that this side of John Mayer hasn't totally subsided post B&R and Paradise Valley. B&R I feel is his real masterpiece since it's the most musically inclined and honest piece of artistry he's ever completed. Yes, I am well aware of Continuum, but I still think B&R is superior.

One of if not the greatest artists of our time. Hands down. So underrated it's unreal. I'll always hold his songs near my heart. Got me through the worst times of my life. Honestly my own shadow days are over now.

I doubt anyone will read this but as of recently Iv been struggling with sobriety and this song here has helped me so much more then I could believe

This song was my mantra as I was coming out the other side of some of the worst times in my life. It's like a rebirth, and it feels that way every time I hear it. It's that glimmer of hope that you gain after you take those first few steps toward redemption with your heart still in your stomach. Thoroughly grateful for this song.

The album Born and Raised just grows up on you, I didn't like Born and Raised when I first heard it TBH but now after listening to the album 2-3 times, I can't get enough of it! Honestly a very underrated album.

Totally! Being a Heavier Things girl, it took me a while to understand Born and Raised, and now I can’t get enough of it, it’s my peaceful place 🥹❤️

the media and the press always find ways to bash his image. he is just like any creative, honest and blunt opinionated person. only difference was that he was in the camera all the time and never had privacy. everything he said was magnified and exaggerated. yes he was an ego addict, but that is all common when you are have someone who is extremely talented and attractive in the eyes of the public. it was only a matter of time before the media took advantage of that and made the people believe ridiculous things, which took a toll on his mental health as he let it get to him. just like any person john has experienced a shit load of pain and unnecessary comments , but he is just as human as the guy you called an asshole because he was proud of how he could play the piano. we have to stop thinking that when a person knows what they are skilled in, that does not make them a bad person.

It´s hard to let things go and move on. But one day you have to believe again and take a first step and hope that beginning will lead to resolving. It´s better than doing nothing. Losing yourself is not worth it .

This song helped me realize so much in life, it got me trough the darkest of times, thank you so much John. Keep on rocking.

It helped me a lot! Today I'm with my wife, but now I miss my sister who helped me so much... I sometimes cry for her... I lost her to cancer... I hope spiritually to find her again! I love her so much and I only ask God to see her again one day. Gratitude.

Born and Raised was that unassuming album which ended up as a behemoth with old man strength, really an accomplishment lyrically and musically.

This was my brothers favorite song and he died back when i was 13 i am now 16 and miss him more than ever but gosd has a plan for everyone i guess but its hard to understand and this is my favorite song along with gravity and free fallin.

He is not underrated by any means, but he is just not popular as many other "hit-makers" simply because his music and lyrics are complex. In my opinion, he is an incredibly clever lyricist and an amazing songwriter. People may or may not like him but they definitely can not (and most of them will not) deny his incredible talent.

Thanks John for saying these things in you music/songs that I didn’t know how to say all this time. I’m just a nobody 45 year old husband and father who is trying to keep it all together all the time for those who I love. I won’t ever stop being a better me but it’s really exhausting sometimes. I’m not complaining just being honest. To be able to sit for a minute and hear a song(s) that describes how you are feeling and get that much needed release for the small moment in time that someone else knows how it feels is truly a great gift. Song changed my life. I’m listening again after so many years all I can do is cry. I use to live with my mom n she will get me mad I’ll be in the room listening to this song on repeat n wishing I can just run away from Africa to America live my life in a country town. But now years later my mom is dead ive grown into a man living alone in my apartment remembering those times I use to live with mom. I miss you mother. Rest in peace.

Every winter I get my john mayer kick. Christmas time is always john. I grew up living this music. Everyday. But winter is the time to vibe. Clarity. John is incredible. His music is perfect.

I have no idea if John Mayer is an addict, but I'm one, and listening to this song, I can relate so much to it. Wrecking things, ending up "In pieces on a hotel floor.." It's about forgiving yourself and moving on, to me at least. Been sober for a year now, and I've let my past go and am living for today. Great song, great message.o it

I think born and raised is one of the bests records ever made. If you want to contest and say it cannot be compared with some legendary tunes, you are right, shadow days or if I ever ger around to living are not Bohemian Rhapsody or Let it be, and they will never be. But just think about how much this music makes you feel good, and makes you enjoy life. Music is not always about being amazed by some skills or extroardinary originality. Somemetimes great music is just about making hearts smile being as simple and as true as you can, and that’s why John is a real genius ❤️

What an amazing artist

My "shadow days" were caused by hypochondria. In my darkest days, when I had my head between my knees, trying to convince myself that my fears were all in my head, barely being able to function because I was always afraid something was wrong, God gave me somebody that made me feel like me again..... he was a miracle, there isn't a doubt in my mind. And I still love that boy with all my heart, and I fight for him every day. This is once in a lifetime and I pray I don't ever have to let go.
