I also love the way Kathy looks at him so adoringly. And their interplay is absolute genius!

So good ! Probably one of the of if not the best live version of JM and others. Besides the actual track on record. Often go on KZread to watch this. The empathy with the music is smooth and soulful. And of course superb musicians involved. JM looks so happy here. JM Fan !!

This is one of the best version of his song i've ever heard ... With the OGWT 1973( Just acoustic and stunning,so special...) John Martyn should be listening a lot more ,So many beautiful compositions...

@@jessem470 yes it's from The Transatlantic Sessions S1,the first time I saw him with" just" his guitar I was blown away, and I still am! I hope to see more here... definitely an original, but such an incredible talent...

Time to explore the world of John Martyn (foul-mouthed Scotsman that he was - miss him terribly!), Rory, and in particular an album called One World from 1977 that was miles ahead of its time when it came out. Cheers mate!

John Martyn my favorite artist of all time. Try Don’t Want to Know or better yet do the whole Solid Air album!! It is just as good as Led Zep

Great choice Before any spoilers are thrown at you React to John doing Small Hours live There are not many unique guitar players out there , look at what John can do with an Acoustic Guitar , a few pedals and Danny Thompson on double bass

Agreed! There's a brilliant live version of Small Hours from Reading University in '78 I think. Just John and his Echoplex. Mesmerising.

We have the feeling that's a jam. May be 30/45 of work. And that slide guitar solo 🤩 ! If Eric Clapton watched this, what did he think of his May You Never cover)

This is fine. So smooth. Just gorgeous. You don't seem to have found Phil Collins (I mean the real Phil.....not the '80s pop version). The reason I mention him with John is that they were friends and Mr. Collins produced one or two of Martyn's albums as well as played on a couple of his songs. Collins said John was one of the best singer/songwriters he has ever heard (may have been in 'Not Dead Yet'). Phil and Eric Clapton were both friends of his. Eric played on and covered a few of his songs. I think they were all drinking buddies in the late '70s when Phil wrote 'In The Air Tonight' and his Face Value songs. By the way, you should at least watch Collins's LIVE version of 'In the Air' from 2004 (Paris). His performance is beyond epic.
