I saw him a few times up in Castlemilk Community Centre in the mid 90's. At one show he was wearing a pair of baggy trousers which tapered at the bottom and someone in the audience shouted "where did you get those trousers, Aladdin?" to which he replied "Aye, come on up here and I'll fkng lamp you one."

Wow, you could bottle that sweat and resell it as whisky. Always good to see a bit of John Martyn though, might have to honour it with a bit of Grace & Danger at midnight with a bit of this table wine I've bought.

It would have been interesting to hear his take on some Motown songs, though. 🙂 Thank you for posting! 👏👏🙂

@@MarvinSumpter It is automatically done by Google, they could not even get his name right. I changed the spelling on his name, but did not bother to sort the rest as there's too many errors. Jools saying "Um" all the time does not help.

John was a rocket, but he was a talented man. I love his early albums.

I really wish JM had loved himself as much as the music.

I went to see John in Belfast with a friend back in the1980s, the ticket cost me three pounds and fifty pence, pretty good value for money, don't you think.

He was, but he grew up partly in London. People used to say he sounded more Scottish when he was in Scotland and more 'Cockney' when he was down South. Code switching, you could call it.

John's self depreciating humour was certainly lost on the zombie audience here. Doh...wake up.
