Conor McGregor’s longtime coach John Kavanagh returns to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show ahead of UFC 257. Kavanagh (8:01) explains why he believes McGregor has improved more than Dustin Poirier since their first fight in 2014. (23:10) Kavanagh makes his prediction for the fight and says why (38:12) a third bout vs. Nate Diaz for the lightweight belt would be a dream fight.

Kavanagh said that on purpose knowing Ariel wouldn't cut it out lol No way he stands orthodox. edit: Also, John said in the beginning of the interview that he texted Ariel a question. Bet he also said he'd say he'd go orthodox and say he'd cut it out. McGregor isn't just now changing his stance randomly.

Yep, simply mind games on Connor’s part. They planned to ‘slip’ it (John’s acting is not good lol) just to mess with Dustin’s and his camp’s head a bit. People saying ‘why, there’s not enough time to do anything about it anymore’ don’t understand that it’s purely psychological, it’s not designed to through Dustin off his training and be preparing for something else over the last few days, but simply mess with his head just a tiny bit more, thus adding to the pressure, that’s why it’s called ‘mind games’. Ariel would never risk ‘accidentally’ putting it there (or not ensuring editors really cut it) and then having hard time with future interviews. Although I don’t like Ariel and do think he’s a weasel, it’s unlikely he was even in on it, Conor just asked John to do it and then kinda dismiss his ‘request’ afterwards (as in ‘ah actually, no big deal, just leave it, it doesn’t matter)

It is interesting that he said we've been spending most of camp training in the orthodox stance. Are they trying to open up the line for Conor's right hand, or do they think he can land counter left hooks to take away Dustin's jab? That just added a new level of intrigue to this one!

What a man John is... Absolutely humble and you can see his admiration for Conor.... Just listening to him talk about his son and Conor's son and to think about where they started and where they are now is incredible...it be absolutely amazing if in 20 years time Conor Jr and John's son are training underneath their fathers trying to make into the UFC...I wish John all the best and would just like to thank him for everything he's done for Irish Mma and for being a incredible human being..

Am I the only one who is annoyed by them constantly calling this "the return" of Conor mcgregor? He fought a year ago. Some fighters haven't fought for a year and a half and they don't say that they're returning. "The return" of Leon Edwards, "the return" of Stipe miocic, They never say that. His last fight was a return because it had been over 2 years. He didn't go anywhere, he was trying to get a fight for a year. Maybe it's just me but I find all this "the return" stuff annoying.
