it’s crazy how i always thought it was so hard to play sikamikaniko based off the older tab for it on this channel. now seeing how you’ve changed it to be open D and G string to a hammer on to the 3rd and 5th frets, it’s a lot easier. i remember from the Funky Monks doc the part where they were making the song, and recording it. you can literally see John play the same open D and G strings, to hammering on the 3rd and 5th just like this tab. so accurate

  • @nikolagugoski

Honestly I find it harder to play it with the open strings because I have to strum very precise. With the other way it's easier for me to mute unwanted strings 😁 but yes, I watched the video you are talking about and that's why I played it like this

Before I watched this video, yes... I heard the Red Hot Chili Peppers a lot, but sometimes I doubted about his guitar playing, and this video deletes all the doubts I had. This guy doesn't come with anything repetitive or boring, he always brings textures to guitar playing, strange chords between riffs, fantastic solos, and so much more. His style is unique. Fantastic guitar player, I underappreciated him for a long time, and these type of videos makes him shine more and keep people paying attention to his style of playing. Wonderful.

Nikola is doing his best job, but I want to give a humble advice. Funky strumming aren't good to learn with tabs. Learn 16 subdivision and try to mute on different subdivision and feel the groove. That's how you learn it first. Tabs ain't the best option.
