No, it's not on the original Niandra Lades, it's a track which you can only find on the 'Estrus EP' which was printed in a very small amount ;)

I recommend you get the estus ep this track is (its track #2) in its entirety on as well as give both sides of Niandra a thorough listening, cuz it's just full of otherworldly haunting beauty and if u pay atnn. you will recognize a snippet/outtake of this song.

Same here. I bought (or had my dad buy because I was a kid) NL&UJaT-shirt because I had accidentally downloaded a portion of this song on Napster, but it got cut off. I listened to the whole album, and was elated when it started at the end of "Mascara". I was like, "Awww yeah, here we go...awwww hell no, it was like 5 seconds!!!" Glad the internet has advanced since those days.

i had the single and used to listen to it on repeat and when i was dying from heroin addiction I knew that this would be the last song I would hear ringing through my head. I lost the single or it got stolen. Either way it was a talisman and foreshadowing of things to come. I got free in spite of all my efforts. I love John because I do remember when he put out To Record Only Water I knew he was clean cause you could tell and the music was fantastic and it gave me hope. Shortly thereafter I got a lot of help and took it. God bless John. I'll forever be grateful for his theme music of my demise/shared experience and hope music. He's the real deal.

I got Niandra the day it came out on tape and then again on CD and then Smile from the streets and stress 45. I also saw him play when he was semi fucked up during the nutstalk tour and his backing band was fishbone dudes. He screamed and shredded. It seemed like he was exercising all the demons. That was 1997. I got clean in 2001. He lead the way and at the time was really the only kind of hope I had was my understanding that he must have changed to produce a new record where the music had changed and he was clean.

I cannot listen to this song. When I first listened to it, i was really into weed. At the point that I stopped going to classes on college, i lived surrounded by shit and I never cared about anything. At this point I was starting to realize how big the problem was and I started to make me sick. I couldn't stay that way but i didnt wanted to stop. Was though. This song made me concious and made me feel so bad about myself I couldnt even listen the whole song. Nowadays, I stopped smoking and Im really okay, but I cannot listen more than 10 secs of this song. I just can't. And its just not by remembering my suffering, its more deep than that. It's the song itself. Thanks for reading.

The first time I heard a JF solo record was the time I felt that warm sensation in my chest, something like a very simple but complex feeling at the same time. So I had to check him out of the music, like what he thinks and what his words would be like if his music was this amazing, I thought he would have something special to say. So I discovered "The Heart is a Drum Machine", if you haven't heard about this, I hardly recommend it. He is a truly amazing human being, meditation and do good in others by spiritually perfecting yourself takes you to this point where you know everything has a balance and the present is everything.

never heard anything so spiritually moving and soul touching like JFs guitar. The lyrics he writes and his tones and riffs just mimic his cosmic pain and i feel like I get it. Not all of it but too much and I feel like no one understands my love for good music, I mean like really good music but I have so much to share and no one to share it with and that kinda makes me feel lonely and melancholic sometimes, but it’s also my own lil gem. What a beautiful soul, what a virtuous, I’m thankful to life in a time where I can listen to this

Beautiful. I also only heard this as the ending to mascara, I remember buying Niandra on import when i was a teenager, I was in a band at the time, and this album gave me the reason to quit and follow my own path…

Some observations from listening to this song: 1. This is one of the most complete songs I've ever heard. You could put the elliptical melody of the intro on repeat for an entire day and I would be happy. 2.He sounds kind of like Marc Bolan at 3:48 on "Would there be any time.." 3. Favorite sample Lyrics: "He ejaculated hula hoops of color.." and "I don't evenfeel like a battered photograph". 4.The spiritual freedom of his music has gotten me this last year of pain.

I was always frustrated when listening to "Mascara" and knowing that this riff would only play for like 2 bars. Finding this was one of the best days of my life. This is in contention for favorite riff of all time.

The end of mascara always so beautiful to me but i just figured that it was something that was a little jam that got thrown in right there, and theres a whole song. I was delighted when i found it. the beginning of it is just so good, i can't think of any words for it.

get this right, john frusciante is MY HERO and i love his work with rhcp and am just starting out to listen to his solo stuff, i only found out that john frusciante had solo stuff on the side so i only know like 20 of his songs really well (my favourite is anne) and i heard someone talk about this song and i hadnt heard of it before, so i looked it up and the first time i heard it, i thought it was a bit weird and didnt really like it, but i listened to it again and it kinda stuck with me. the more and more i listen to it, i fall in love with it even more! there's just something about this song that makes me feel really relaxed and there's something nostalgic about it that i cant explain, but the feeling is really beautiful! i love this song and i love john frusciante, i hope he continues to make more of this music as its really amazing!!!!!!!!!!

+Ewa Marczuk really good! Did you hear he released new music for free the other day. There are a few albums and songs and stuff it's really cool you should check them out on his KZread channel! Unfortunately, I read somewhere that he doesn't plan to release any more new music after this, which is a shame. :(
