when he starts playing the opening riff of "castles made of sand", it almost brought tears to my eyes. and then when stops and says, "it was 32 fuckin years ago, i can't remember it," that humbleness makes me fall just a little more in love. he is questionably the sexiest thing to happen to the art of guitar playing. the chili fans miss you terribly, john. please come back.

Pt 2 to Fransisco: As far as influence goes, Clapton is one of the most influential guitar players to ever live. Without him, we probably wouldn't know half of those great blues guys. The Les Paul/Marshall combo was popularized by Clapton from the Beano album (1965). Hendrix only went to England on the condition he could MEET Clapton. The original Les Paul went out of production in the 1960's, but was brought back becuz everyone wanted one. Why? Becuz EC was using it with the Bluesbreakers.

Almost all of his songs are like that.. just make it about what you want. For me it means nothing but it doesnt take away from all that i feel when i hear it.
@Twofirmfeet1024
9 жыл бұрын
pudgywudgy I understand what you mean. I have various interpretations but my favorite one is this one John is talking about a special girl that he lost to corrupt society and it was a hard loss as she makes "him realize" and he feels happy knowing "she's alive" etc. When he says "Where have you been since you fell out the flat edge of a world under an ugly sky" he means that she has left the world of the lonely people in which he resides. The world is divided into the norm (those that abide societal standards) and the lonely (those that dont adhere to societal standards). The words "Flat edge" connotes that he lives in this world as a minority as there are only a few ppl that still believe that the world is flat. He also adds his song "Been insane" that criticizes society and "Your Pussys glued" where he glamorizes his special girl.

Sounds like maybe a sound guy or employee of the club. Since he wasn't shouting over the crowd it probably wasn't a fan. And since John talks about playing over Ani Defranco right after, maybe he was telling him she's about to go on and asking how many more songs he has or something. Just a guess.

a "pawn" is considered a powerless person, (example in chess), and the pope obviously is a much higher figure. So he means that that higher power is irrelevant when everything around you (your sea) is pawns.. understad? pretty crazy stuff John talks...

okandah: jimi and Jimmy were both influenced by Clapton, so there is vicarious influence there. Remember, everyone is influenced by whatever they hear. Influence is not a one way street. Every modern guitarist of rock or blues has been influenced by Clapton heavily, since he had such an effect on the way rock and blues guitar was played. John may not have copied EC's riffs and such, but he belongs to a genre of music that owes a lot to Clapton.

@1Sifting what do u mean 0,0
@glencollings Thank you but i wanted you to write here all his utterance from 4:10 to 4:33. But thank you anyway. ;D
wow dude that was a long reply.. but true.. i admired clapton a lot and he is a huge influence.. but Jimi just totally changed rock.. if u hear BSSM thats a lot of Hendrix/Slovak mix.. now John does changed a lot of musical styles.. but ur right man.. i never meant to put Clapton down.. in my personal opinion Hendrix is better than Clapton..
You have no idea what i'd of done to be there.. how fucking immence does this gig look?
I'm from Amsterdam and I don't use weed >.>

Almost all of his songs are like that.. just make it about what you want. For me it means nothing but it doesnt take away from all that i feel when i hear it.

pudgywudgy I understand what you mean. He also adds his song "Been insane" that criticizes society and "Your Pussys glued" where he glamorizes his special girl.

really?
haha, i know how u feel, but yeah, its pretty amazing
Sounds like maybe a sound guy or employee of the club. Since he wasn't shouting over the crowd it probably wasn't a fan. And since John talks about playing over Ani Defranco right after, maybe he was telling him she's about to go on and asking how many more songs he has or something. Just a guess.
kava kava
i totally agree with you but i think one should be fair and say "one" of the most important...
@rohan316 martin 0-15?
Could be true, its in Amsterdam so maybe he thougt it was weed
a "pawn" is considered a powerless person, (example in chess), and the pope obviously is a much higher figure. So he means that that higher power is irrelevant when everything around you (your sea) is pawns.. understad? pretty crazy stuff John talks...
i gotta cover of this great song that i do not pretend to do justice to but i'd love your opinion and not mine. much love, amor, y paz
Don't patronize me.
what does johnny say form 4:10 to 4:22 ?

theberto someone asked him to play a song to which he replied “no no no” Then he said something about ani defranco playing and how he was gonna stay up there 😂👏
tick tick boom?
okandah: jimi and Jimmy were both influenced by Clapton, so there is vicarious influence there.
