These guys down to earth both owned the charts in Australia 🇦🇺 for 6 decades John always gives someone in the band a solo in his songs These guys both from working class Jimmy founder worker John appreciate plumber Cold chisel has two singers Jimmy barnes no1 singer and guy called Ian moss singer amazing guitarist Look this up early version of band Cold chisel wild thing live performance last stand What real rock band used to be and Jimmy had a bottle or two of spirits before show If you want to see john's personality look this up John Farnham Lisa Edwards singing Angel's she his back up sing for years For power watch how far away from 🎤 mic he's singing from and he's other two back up singers for years John Farnham Amazing Grace with vendetta fields and Lindsay fields You haven't seen him sing Ballard's yet or rock and roll Theirs 6 decades and every genre even opera theatre Your correct John is loved by almost everyone in the industry as well Jimmy will tell you he was wild in his younger day went solo and ment his wife and cleaned himself up and I don't think he drinks now If you go to his site the barnes family run it his kid wife and him they all talk to everyone and kids music as well Everyone who talked with them from around the world on the site post on their site how nice and helpful they all are The thing in Australia 🇦🇺 you have to be good and versatile to last Jimmy and john both love to sing and the people both never forgotten where they come from and both felt absolute poverty This is why they love their audiences John said in interview he knows how hard it is for the audience to earn a living and fells blessed everytime his on stage they'll spend their hard earned money on a ticket to hear him sing and knows they would've sacrifice something to buy a ticket that's why they always made tickets affordable Because interviewer asked him why he doesn't charge as much as other because he could asked a lot more for tickets and that was his reply Also remember interview about the one with orchestra and was asked you must have made a fortune from it he said he had no idea Called his best friend and manager up and he replied I don't think we made anything but haven't got all the bills yet but it might have cost us money depending what's still coming John replied I don't care if we lost it was amazing but why they had to cut the orchestra after those shows and it hit John but because didn't want to put ticket prices up they lost the orchestra Hope this help to understand their personality a bit Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍

Yes. They are not only great artists, but good men and great role models too. Despite their celebrity, (and female fans flinging their knickers at them!), they always were solid respectful family men who adored their wives and kids. [ See Burn For You, that John wrote for his wife Jilly, while he was out on the road, touring, and missing her. ] Legendary Aussie Artists, who always attracted the best of the best of other musicians , singers to perform with them. Why? As you've clearly picked up; - because they always appreciated and acknowledged others skills and artistry. Not only those on stage with them, but their entire production team. 🥰

I 💯 agree with you, I'm an Aussie woman and I think a man should be a man, and a decent man will protect a woman, we are equal in humanity yet we certainly are different in the way we see the world. John has been married to his wife for decade's they have two grown son's and they are the most important people in his life, that's a man. Jimmy also wife and children are his strength, they are definitely what we call an man's man, God bless, thanks for the great reaction 👍

This song is originally done by Cold Chisel which is Jimmy Barnes band before he went solo.... Barnsey is Australia's greatest rock singer...

  • @markjames3522
    @markjames3522 Жыл бұрын

Original by Cold Chisel after Cold Chisel broke up in 1983/84 the songwriter drummer Steve Prestwich joined the Little River Band while John Farnham was lead singer from 1982 to 1986 . LRB wasn’t making any money and because the heavy cost of touring the USA put the band in the red , only the songwriters got paid though royalties . Steve Prestwich didn’t have any new songs to offer to be recorded so after adding When The War Is Over to set list on LRB’s Playing To Win tour they recorded it for their underrated 1986 album No Reins . John Farnham and Steve Prestwich left LRB before the song was released as single . John Farnham recorded it again because his recording company requested it to be a b side for the single Age Of Reason which was a massive number 1 hit in 1988 .

For me personally, I don’t think Jimmy was really at his best there. That song was a Cold Chisel song, of which Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer. This version has been changed around a bit. You must react to When Something Is Wrong With My Baby by Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham. That is peak Farnsey and Barnsey soul.

That's his backing singer Lisa Edwards with the baby in the crowd (the other video you were talking about) - she has sung with him for decades but had taken time off to have a baby. You need to watch this song by Cold Chisel live 2003. Written last century by the drummer of Cold Chisel, Steve Prestwich, it was inspired by Australia's (then) recent acknowledgement of Vietnam Vets, and their inclusion in ANZAC Day Marches.

You're right, John is a good man, a genuinely nice person. Here's John as he's named Australian of the Year in 1988. Even though it's only a few minutes long, this tells you a lot about the man, including that real men do cry. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6ltt9lmZtitiLw.html John is well known for using his considerable clout to organise huge fundraising concerts in the middle of the bush whenever there's a crisis, with artists from Australia and overseas, including back to back concerts in 2020 and 2021 at age 70+ after the catastrophic bushfires followed by devastating floods. He's well known in the music world, having sung with some of the world's greats including Celine Dion, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Richie, Brian May from Queen and Olivia Newton John. He was the first singer approached by Queen to join the band after Freddie Mercury died, and he was invited to join Van Halen. He refused as he wanted to raise his family in Oz. You're absolutely right - he is a genuinely good man, humble, generous, kind and caring, pretty funny too! John has a huge catalogue of music spanning 5 decades. Where to start? First, always choose live versions with John, especially anything from the Classic Jack concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, where the video Help is from. First should be You're the Voice, the song that gave John the moniker The Voice. This is more Oz's national anthem than the actual anthem. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKFmz8FyhczQo9I.html Another from this concert is John's cover of ACDC's Long Way to the Top, like you'd never imagine it! A wall of sheer joy! I was sitting side-on to the orchestra and they were having an absolute blast - you only have to watch the utter glee on MSO conductor, Dobbs Franks' face. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWeMwdyYqrqag8o.html You must play When Something is Wrong With My Baby, a big hit that Jimmy and John - aka Barnsey and Farnsey did together, is fabulous! This is by far the best live version imho - this time it's a Jimmy Barnes concert, and John gate crashes! It also features Diesel, a respected musician in his own right, who also happens to be Barnsey's brother-in-law. The affection between the men is really touching (not to mention the killer harmonies).. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYir06OegbWWoqg.html I could go on and on - Playing to Win, Burn For You, Touch of Paradise. But I've picked out two more that stand out to me, for different reasons. The first is a duet with the late Olivia Newton John. They were great friends, and it was Olivia who helped pull John out of his grief on losing his manager and best friend, Glenn Wheatley, to Covid, for long enough to finish the movie that was being made about him, Finding The Voice (released this year). Sadly, Olivia died a month later after a long battle with cancer. The affection between John and Olivia in this duet is beautiful to behold. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKmKwdaTf6fMe5s.html The second is John in his role as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar singing Gethsemane because it showcases his sincerity and versatility as a performer. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWmr0a-TpKbSmKw.html Oh, I almost forgot. The lady in the audience with her baby was Lisa Edwards, one of John's back-up singers. If you look at both the You're the Voice and Long Way to the Top links, she's the cute chick with the crimped hair and pointy bustier. His 3 backup singers have been with him for at least 4 decades. Here is Lisa accompanying John in the song Angels. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z5NmsKyLeceof5s.html Whew, that's a lot of homework I've set you. Ah what the hell. John uses Led Zepp's Black Dog as a warm-up song, and someone taped him. Audio only, but it's stunning! kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGaNy5iNhsyTo7g.html As you surely know by now, John is fighting the biggest battle of his life, with the cancer that required radical surgery to remove half his jaw. Get well Farnsey!❤️

Apart from John's voice, he has charisma, he is generous, he's a true Aussie "larrikin". He always gives credit to his team, his musicians and appreciates his audiences, he is truely humble. He doesn't watch anything about himself (which was pointed out by his sons recently at the launch of the newly released documentary of his life "John Farnham - Finding the voice". He's a family man, still with his beloved wife (married in 1973). At home on his farm, loves his horses. He said once he's a farmer who can sing, not a singer who has a farm. Although I think, everyone tells him he is "Great", he truly can't understand it. I think underneath there is still a young 17 year old Plumber's apprentice who can't believe he got to follow his dream. I think you are beginning to understand why he is an "Australian Treasure". No-one will ever be able to replace him.

Yes John never turns his back on anyone. He did turn his back on the audience in this video on to smile and watch his band. His, sadly passed manager/best friend, had to physically drag John away from fans only to get him on stage in time lol. Also John’s wife of 50 years, you’ll never see her hanging off his arm like a trophy wife, as John says, she is my rock. On tours in country towns, he walks the streets, talks and signs autographs to anyone who asks and has a chat to them. He’s an all around good guy, humble and as Dr Kap said, a very funny man. He’s a freak of nature in my books, his kindness, gives everyone due credit, funny, honestly humble and one heck of an amazing voice. And the same for Jimmy Barnes, he sang from his own home on Facebook every single night with his wife, children and grandchildren during Covid when we were all on lockdown. Even showed his home gardening and cooking vids from home, laughing and chatting away. No sense of “look at us, we are celebrities.” Jimmy and John felt like you are watching a friend. Real men who aren’t scared to show what really good men are like.

I noticed that you have reacted to Led Zeppelin and thought you might try Johns unofficial cover of their song Black Dog. Unofficial as it was just the bands warm up and sound check song pre concert. A sound tech recorded it and now we can hear it. No vision as it was never performed live to an audience. Also another that might pique your interest is Aussie Casey Chamber covering Eminem's Lose Yourself. Epic. Genuine reaction from you and I agree with your thoughts.

John was still performing, at 71, still hitting those incredible notes until Covid closed the country down. Sadly, John has been hit hard over the past year. He lost his long-time friend & manager Glen Wheatley to Covid, then his friend Oliver Newton John, then was told he had mouth cancer. He endured an 11+ hour surgery, removing the tumor and part of his jaw and is still recuperating. Here is a little 60Minutes segment back in 1993, giving you a little more insight about John. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmWKtbZ9e6etobg.html

Love this song. Many people see this as a song about war. Literally. When I listen I see a married couple after a big fight. When the war is over.. They start again. Together or maybe apart. How can you go on.. You no doubt still love your spouse. You can't even think about finding someone else. This is my interpretation as a married man of 37 years to the only long term girlfriend I ever had.. or wanted.

So great to see. I feel so lucky growing up in Oz with the band scene here. At one stage Australian radio station refused to pay royalties to the overseas record companies. Many of the DJs on radio had friends who were stewardesses and travelers who brought them copies of the latest overseas hits. So bands here played 5 or 6 nights a week at pubs playing the latest hits from overseas (which locally were their hits)! What a time to be alive ;-)

5:10 I (we) get your point on masculinity, it's not political at all, it's simply an observation of the facts and how this species managed to exist to this day. If what we are experiencing in the 'woke' society today continues, God help the species. Just like your discovery of our John, I've just discovered your reviews. How the hell have I missed your channel? SUBSCRIBED!

Absolutely agree about manly men. Personally I see the so-called men of today as whimpy.

Thanks for the awesome reaction. Such a great song with incredible lyrics. I actually prefer the version where John Farnham sings the song on his own or the one with Cold Chisel live Ringside 2003 a band Jimmy Barnes is part of.

The song is about a breakdown of a relationship, "when the war is over, let's just start again"

I just watched you're first John Farnham reaction and left a comment and requested you react to Jimmy Barnes then I found that you had already reacted to Jimmy in this reaction. I will put my suggestion in again just in case Stone Cold by Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa.

Fantastic reaction - love the rabbit hole your sending your self down. Next look should be Jimmy's band Cold Chisel. Cold Chisel - truly the greatest Rock band you've never heard. This is a legendary Australian rock band, that although having massive supporter base and being beloved for 50 years in Oz, are known little outside these shores. Their live shows are legendary, songwriting greatness from all 5 band members and the unique vocal pairing of Jimmy Barnes (singer) and Ian Moss (guitarist) make every song an amazing journey. The discography is huge, but here are a couple of songs to get you started. Bow River - Live 2003 Ringside tour - a pure pub rock / blues based song that builds and soars and just keeps raising the bar. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpiKtLB9nrexhLg.html&ab_channel=BruceBarber Wild Thing - Live 1983 The Last Stand tour - even though they were breaking up at the time, still at the top of their game. This cover of The Troggs classic is quite possibly the greatest live rock track ever recorded. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ao5qtMyOmZbYnag.html&ab_channel=GlennThomas Khe Sanh - Their first single released in 1978 about the returning problems of a Vietnam War Veteran - controversial at the time, shortly after the end of the war, it has become a national anthem in Oz and still a powerful showcase of what they would produce for the decades that followed. It was a song by Cold Chisel about the Vietnam war and our (Australias') involvement in it. A completely unnecessary involvement.

There is actually a better version of this song performed by John, alone, (When the War is Over...the last time) Not that I dislike Jimmy Barnes but I started to lose interest in him when he started to scream rather than sing. In this version, John is around 53 yo but still has sensational pipes and he hits toe curling high notes that boggle the mind. Please be sure to check out John performing 'Gesthemene' from Jesus Christ Superstar, also. Prepare to be amazed.
