You cannot go wrong whenever John and the Muppets teamed up. The collaboration felt so natural and believable.

Funny story. I met John in Russia at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in I think 1983. He was on a culture exchange with Jim Henson of Muppet fame. I worked at "Uncle Sam's" which was a snack bar by day and a bar & dance hall by night inside the embassy compound. I saw him standing in a darkened corner by himself drinking a cup of Koff beer (from Finland). I was 19. I casually walked up and pointed my index finger at him in a "cool" sort of way and said "Hey, how ya doin' ". I think he like the style because he did the same thing back to me and said, "I'll have to remember that.". Then stupidly and without thinking I blurted out, " Hey, where are you from?". He starred at me for a couple of seconds like he was amazed to have been asked that. Now at this point he could have said a number of things. But he chose to err on the side of politeness as he quietly responded, "Colorado". We then sat down and talked about his intrically embroidered cowboy boot. But mostly he wanted to learn all he could about the KGB (the Soviet state police force).

Holy cow, what a small world! I was watching this video since I love John Denver and I almost fell out of my chair when I read your comment! I went to Russia in 1985 with a high school tour group (I was a senior that year) and our group went to Uncle Sam’s at the Embassy as part of our trip! I remember buying a souvenir t shirt there with Uncle Sam pointing. And you were there two years before me and I didn’t meet John Denver of course, but what a cool coincidence! If you were still working there in 1985 I might have seen you. 😁

RIP and long live John Denver (December 31, 1943 - October 12, 1997), aged 53 You will always be remembered as a legend.

I can't think of anything more wonderful than a weekend with Jon Denver, Kermit and Fozzie.

John is too underrated as a singer/songwriter; He was amazing !! I love his sound & style he cared about the Earth, before it was " hip' .. RIP John

John was a Real Live muppet by himself!!! every. appearance he made was a solid 10! What a GREAT Guy! Miss him sooo much!😁

I’m only 17 and I remember watching this on VHS as a kid. Love every second of it.

John Denver just. Centers me. His music is the closest thing I think I've ever been to inner peace.

Loved seeing John bond with Robin. I think there's something in my eye 🥲 13:48 John has such a way with kids. 17:30 Not to mention he has that rare trait of being able to admit when he's wrong. They don't make 'em like John anymore.

My family and I loved John Denver and his music. He is genuinely great to listen and had a heavenly listen anyone could enjoy. I also grew up with the Muppets (primarily the 2011 movie) and were very charming to my childhood and I still watch them as a teen. I grew up watching this as a kid with a dvd my parents gave me and I LOVED it. I have a soft spot for this in general and is underrated and just fun to watch for all ages if you like John Denver the Muppets or both!

This brings back so many memories of raising my kids. It pretty much covers everything we thought was important back then.

At 41:00 one of the best poems and prayers and promises I've heard him sing... so pretty.

Haha this was the best when I was kid we had it on an old VHS and I'd watch it religiously I remember being horrified of the giant chicken good times

Holy Crap I knew I wasn't crazy. I had remembered the muppets going camping and couldn't remember the name of it. Had to search on Wiki to find it. Thanks for preserving my fading memory.

I've just watched this, so good, great for the kids to watch even in this time 2022.Poems Prayers and Promises has such lovely lyrics..even saying My soul will be in these mountains..well he certainly is..his Happy place.

Timeless magic.

Grandmas feather bed was previously sung when John Denver was guest starring on the Muppet Show.

After I saw this TV special I happened to have been to an antique shop on a trip and found the original record album in very good condition I'll add

That's too bad. My dad bought the cassette soundtrack and we listened to it on our camping vacations out west all through my high school years (along with all the rest of JDs music). This brought back great memories 🙂.

I haven't seen this one before. It's great!😂👍 I loved that Statler and Waldorf are still there to heckle the muppets. When I was little I never understood why those old guys were there.😂 Now I love them😂❤ I love the rest of the muppets too of course!😂❤

There was a scene in which Denver and Rowlf went on plane ride. It was shown in the original broadcast. The scene was removed from the home video release in 2003, out of respect for Denver who died in a plane crash.
