This song is so beautiful, I still tear up when I listen to it. I am sure the maker in all his wisdom is allowing John to play for all the angels as they sing his songs with that beautiful smile of his face.

When I was in my 20s, I listened to John Denver; his music spoke to my heart. He introduced me to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado! I seemed to find a peace in them that I was not able to find elsewhere. I draw my strength and my life force from them. And like the song says "He (me) was born in the summer of his 27th year, coming home to a place he’s never been before". I am in my 60s now and still live in Colorado and I have been on a "Rocky Mountain High” ever since! Thank you John!

I have wanted to live this song since i was young. I'm getting closer to that day. Just me, my dogs, and John's spirit.

When this song/album came out in 1972, I was 19 and had just lost my Dad shockingly and tragically. I bought the album and also the guitar song book which had all the music and some pictures of Colorado. It became my dream to someday live there. Fast forward to 1994 and a job opening came up for me in Colorado with the company I worked in North Carolina. I took the job, left on a Friday and the next Monday I was out driving all over the state delivering medical supplies to peoples homes. I went over 12,000 foot mountain passes in all kinds of conditions- gorgeous fall with the aspens all aglow, winter in blizzard conditions , etc and saw the Rocky Mountains up close and personal. Met the people that lived there and made a lot of friends. One month later I flew back to NC, packed up a truck and my wife and I moved to Colorado. We lived there for 21 years and my jobs took me on journeys all over the Rockies and western states. Loved living out as dream in Colorado? Jon Denver inspired it and I felt his music so deeply when i lived and traveled in the places he so beautifully sang about...Rocky Mountain High forever!

Honestly i think that ONE dislike was from someone so overcome with the emotion caused by such a revelation of ABSOLUTE TRUTH, BEAUTY, AND SINCERITY they just clicked the wrong button. i know i always get intensely emotional from such a divine, prophetic poet's sonic epiphanies. The weird part is i don't focus on the idea of having lost him. i'm just thankful his blessings of song will echo forever. i know he's out there somewhere... part of the natural world he taught us how to love.

I drove through Colorado from Carolina to California...in an RV, Colorado and grand canyon were amazing...painted desert, Monument Valley, Colorado River... phew beautiful one of the best places on earth

I've never been to the European Alps, but I've never seen mountains like those in Colorado. Every year we make the trek back to the Rockies for introspection, not only in a psychological way, but spiritual. And not from a New Age perspective, but from a Christian perspective. God provided us such a spectacular gift when He breathed the Rockies into existence. And when I travel there, I squeeze every drop of enjoyment out of every mountain peak, valley, stream, lake, and Aspen tree.

I love Colorado...even though im from CA. but this song speaks out about the true beauty of that state.

these lyrics are so meaningful to me. age 27 right now and about to move to Denver to start a new life. ive listened to John since i was little and my parents played his music on our frequent camping trips. always come back when im feeling nostalgic. sorry for any typo my phone is broken. @tucobabe Me too! This song (and John Denver in general) was such huge part of growing up in Colorado and Wyoming, to this day I get teary-eyed when I listen to his music, and this one had tears streaming down my face! BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I've been there, in some of the places pictured in this vid. In the 1970's, and then again in the 1990's. The last time, I missed it, too.

I've visited Fort Collins Colorado last year, and have been to Copper Mtn ski resort the year before that, from the little time I spent in the mountains, I can understand how they inspired him to write this song, even for a person who's never been there, they feel like they've returned home.

very eloquently stated friend~I've been playing guitar since I was 9 years old and John's Songs were some of the first I ever learned. I did get to meet him one time and as I started talking about how his Songs affected me and my Life, he began to cry...it was one of the most memorable experiences of my Life...I connected with him as a human being and as an Artist...we cried together...the honesty in his Songs told the tale of his Life...we were blessed that he would share so openly.

Back in the late nineties I had a John Denver's greatest hits tape. it was a newer remix and recording of all the songs. It had more of a rock beat to it and I wished I could remember which album it was and find it again. if anybody's got any ideas let me know. one thing I remember is in Rocky Mountain High bit left out in Colorado line.
