A bit teary eyed today......Soooo missing him....John Denver..THE BEST....love....love....love

I sang this to my mother holding her hand as she was dying. I believe in our Spirit living on beyond this physical life, and some of this song explains to her and me how the wind will whisper her name to me as her spirit comes close and passes by, and i will give her all the love i can always as she stays in my heart. I know the song is a parents love for a child, I believe those words works both ways, in the love of a child for its parent too. Its a beautiful poetic love song.

John was simply a Beautiful Spiritual Musician having an Earthly and Human experience. I believe John knew that, and He stretch his Music, His Love and Beliefs across a world that was lonely, afraid, bold but needing a voice in our corner that no one had ever touched before.

This song reminds me of my beautiful baby girl, my 13 year old beagle who died a year ago. She was everything to me and I still miss her dearly everyday.

That is so sweet. As a dad it goes right to the heart ❤️

I simply LOVE the lyrics and the simple way it is sung by John Denver💕

I dusted this song off for the birth of my second grandson, born the day before yesterday. Covid restrictions mean I wont be able to sing it for him until the weekend. The lyrics mean that the singer intends to protect, teach and love the infant unconditionally and expect nothing in return, being rewarded only by the love in the child's eyes. The worl, for the singer, will be a much happier place because of their relationship.

Beautiful lyrics! And I do believe that you can ad whatever meaning a song has to you personally. As far as I know, this was a lovesong to what might have been his first true love.

You either understand the words/music perfectly, or you don't have a clue. Which is not your fault, I don't mean that. When you know it, you will know it. What can I say. To try to dissect it any more is fruitless. I hope everyone feels this at some point, and that's the thing, once you do you will never lose it.

I think about many people when I hear this. Some of the memory make me smile and some make me so sad, but I love this song so much no matter the feeling.

For those of us whose parents reproduced before they had the maturity and good sense to nurture their children, this song seems especially meaningful. Similar to Mr. Rogers' calm and soothing entreaties, John Denver's For Bobby touches a tender part of my soul that remains kind and gentle in spite of the heaps of abuse hurled upon it.

For my JennJenn and our Saturday mornings when you would read in bed and I would listen. I love you so much and miss you more.
