Based on your video and others like it, I purchased the x738 with HDAP tires and the 47" blower and an Original Tractor cab (I felt the JD glass cab was a bit spendy). I have a wide driveway and 214' of sidewalk, and I like helping neighbors also, so my 20 year old White 13 HP walk behind will get sold.. time in my life to start riding.. love the video.

Thank you. Your story sounds a lot like mine, my JD is replacing a commercial duty 12 HP Simplicity 32" walk behind that is a great snowblower but it just came time to make snow removal easier. We had a 22" inch snowstorm 11/19 that the JD chewed right through and I was really glad to have it for. I plan on keeping it for as long as we live here so I added the glass cab and heat because JD's hold their value so well the cost averaged out over time isn't too bad .

I watch a lot of snow removal videos whether it's by mower or riding tractor or by quads 4x4s with a palm blade I do believe my own opinion is that blowing the snow or throwing it is the most efficient manner even though the snow thrower or blower is the most or more expensive option have a very good day take care

@@back4052 thanks for the answer, good idea for the crystals, how do you feel on a hot summer day cutting the grass ... does a window open besides the entrance door? Do you have air conditioning (cold)? Is it really recommended in very cold weather (0 fahrenheit and less) to have gasoline instead of diesel?

  • @back4052

@@felixfreire369 This is my winter JD, I have a smaller JD for mowing although the doors could be removed for summer. I don't think air conditioning is available on these. I went with gas for better cold weather starting and just the convenience of having all the fuel the same. I"m going to add a engine heater next summer to warm the engine up a little bit if it's really cold or it's sat for a while, although it's always started for me now as is.

@@felixmartel1847 I went with gas really for the sake of convenience because I have 8 other small engines that I use only 91 octane gas in so it's just easier to keep it organized. Plus this tractor can sit for a month or two where you can run into issues with diesel. The diesel might give you a little more torque but this has had all the power I've ever needed. You can't go wrong either way.

In process of purchasing similar tractor and 47-inch thrower lifts and lowers unevenly. 1-1/4 inch higher on left edge of thrower than right. Yours appears to lift and lower more evenly. I am challenging dealer to correct this. I would appreciate feedback ASAP. Thanks.

  • @back4052

That's a puzzler I went out and checked mine and everything is in the bubble level. The first thing I would check is that both the locking pins are in the holes on the blower attachment and in the locked position. They can pop out if you're blowing and don't have it in the float position. If that's not it do the same for the quick hitch. Maybe take everything off and reattach to make sure it's right. If it's new your quick hitch should be level and your blower will be level. If it's used I'm wondering if someone tried to lift something heavy and bent the quick hitch or the frame. Good luck hope it works out.

@@back4052 Thanks for checking for me. I found today that my dealer questioned John Deere in a “technical case bull item” and was told that they are not designed to be level when lifted, but are designed to run when on the ground. I am aware that it is designed to be used when lowered to the ground, but observe that yours and others lift up and lower down evenly unlike what I am being sold. I had a 425 tractor prior to this which lifted evenly and I liked to lift it occasionally when throwing on a gravel driveway to limit picking up rock.

Hi Matt. In general I am satisfied with the throw distance. As you can see my driveway is between the house and garage so I have to throw lengthways not sideways and it handles everything fine except a slushy rain snow mix. I have the push blade to handle those times.
