Is there any way to repair these clutches? I just came across one with Chrome handels that runs fine, but the clutch is noisy.

You should determine which blade clutch you have first and then you can either look at repair, replace or as many have done - permanently fusing (creating a zone start). I chose to repair mine using a replacement for the friction disc. If you do a google search for '14SB blade clutch repair' or JX75 blade clutch replacement' you should find how to do the newer unit...Check out Tony's Lawn Care KZread uploads from here in these comments (formerly Archie Bunker for President)...he is extremely knowledgeable about these machines and has a detailed breakdown of the earlier less common blade clutch which your unit may have...Good Luck...please feel free to report back your outcome...PS-replacement can be VERY expensive!

@kirkthebeerslinger , thanks. I ended up removing the bbc and the seals on the bearings, cleaned them the best I could and regreased them. There are a couple of videos on how do the this. And the bbc seams better than before. Have to wait till the grass to grow. I think the long time repair is to make it a zone start. Will try to keep it as close to original as long as I can.

Did you retrofit the oil filter on the jx75? You mentioned taking it from an 85 model. Thanks!

Hello and yes...It was three simple bolts on each...the oil filter kit simply fits on after you remove a triangular cover plate on the Kawasaki engine...it appears as though it is the same for the 180 as the 150...I also grabbed the skid rails off the JX85 and they mounted directly on the JX75 deck...the wheels on the JX85 are steel vs the plastic ones on the 14SB/JX75 (honestly, the weakest aspect of these amazing mowers...but new ones are still available on Amazon for $35CAD/pair so pretty reasonable...but not sure for how long)...if you have ANY questions reply back or shoot me an email to kirkleaper@hotmail.com and I can send you some photos as well...cheers!

Kirk I just noticed looks like you silver decks are not as old as my 1989/90 14SB . I can tell by looking at them they are all the 2 piece Warner clutch your 14SB's were Produced in the year 1992/96 after 1993 they made the 14SB With Black Handles 92 on Down they were made with Chrome 1991 on Down to 1989/1990 First Additions were made with the Orgura 2 Piece Clutch The 1989 Was there 4.5 Hp and 5 Hp there made with the Orgura Clutch mine was then next version offered with the 5Hp .after that 1991 on to 1997 same 5 Hp but black Handles .
