Thank you so much for pointing out the washers went on differently! I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out what was wrong.

Great video. I have mine apart right now on my 14SB and will refer back to this to make sure I put it together correctly. Have you made the video yet with the transmission open? I only had 2 of the 5 speeds working on mine so I opened it up to see if the gears were stripped. All looks fine so I cleaned the old grease out of it and will be replacing it with fresh grease. I'm just not sure how much I should put in it.

Hello, thank you for this great video. I'm facing a problem with my John Deer JX90 SA0998, I plan to change the drive V-belt but I don't understand what to dismantle at the blade axis to place the belt behind, would you have an expert eye on my problem?

You didn't show how to remove the cover to access the transmission and that's what I need help with. I don't pull the girl card very often but I guess I need to do that today.

Are you referring to the black cover just behind the engine on top of the mower deck? There's a black plastic pole sticking up that is attached to a nut - just turn that counterclockwise to loosen and remove it. Then you'll need to press down and pull out on the top of the black cover near the rear bagger flap to remove it (there are clips at the top, which is why you need to press down and pull outward). Then you should be able to just lift it straight up.

Hey CarrieNation, you were trying to do this 5 years ago, did you get it solved?? I had the same issue, couldn't figure out how to get the cover off. Eric stated how to remove it (Thank you Eric) but it wouldn't turn by hand. As soon as I squeezed it with pliers, it did what I expected. That is, crumble to bits. If you take a long screwdriver & hammer, you can beat it to pieces & it will come off. I was hoping to put a 1/4-20 nut there, but on mine it's a 6mm metric thread. I had to wrap tape around the nut to enable the socket to hold the nut & get it started on the little stud. Maybe this will help someone at some point in the future.
