    My family uses a 1998 9610 on a 1990 12 row 30 inch corn head. I didn’t know the JD 12 row was designed so long ago. I think these combines will continue to be rebuilt and used for a long time.

    Tell that combine operator to put at least one fire extinguisher on the combine. Didn't notice any. First (and only) combine fire I had was on a JD 95. There's nothing like using your jacket, shirts, gloves, & pants to put out an engine fire in the middle of a corn field on a cold day. Great idea using an air compressor & spray nozzle to clean off the combine/header. Leaf blowers are more portable. Great video!

    We are running a 1991 model John Deere 9400 combine with a 643 corn head and 922 soybean header in West TN harvesting corn, wheat, and soybeans. Coming from a 1982 John Deere 6620 the maximizer is like a dream to run. We just harvested our 5th crop with it running somewhere around 1000 acres through it this year with very minimal downtime.

  • @countrygent4

    @countrygent4

    Жыл бұрын

    The 6620 was a great soybean machine but a 643 was to much corn head in heavy corn and it was too wide for a 443 with the 23.1 or 28.1 tires. It cylinder would handle it but not enough separating capacity behind it - you were crawling thru the field.

    I actually see a couple of potential reasons for a 12 row on a Maximizer. Really low yields, and that is not a slight, yields aren’t necessarily profits. They grow dryland corn in some very low rainfall areas. Another good reason would be maintaining a 3:1 perfect ratio controlled traffic farming scenario. Their are plenty of DB90 / 120 frames no longer in use with high speed 60’ bars doing the same job. You can get ultra wide planting fairly easily, and their are plenty of 400-500 horse tractors around, a 20 year old 9620t would do the job, even if you go 20” spacing. That leaves you with a 30’ limit on heads. Perfectly filled by a 9600 or 9610. I’m looking for a great kid who has been active in FFA and 4-H to set up with 5-600 acres of cheap rent and some of my old equipment. I don’t sell or trade anything because I’ve had it all tore down and rebuilt twice and I can’t part with it. It’s still as good as new. We have to get kids in to this game who didn’t have a daddy and grandpa plowing the road for them. Good God when I kick the bucket my kids will be getting the world handed to them.

    I bought one in August of 1990. Some days we harvested 1.4 million lbs in a day in 230 bu corn. Stopping about sundown to refuel. Many around here had 10 row heads using duels. This cost $10,000 for the heavy duty axles.
