Love the 8000 series I used to work for a Deere dealer and the 8000s were my favorite to work on. So straightforward, 10 and 20 series was alright, 30 is when I started not caring for them as much.

@@CheeseMiser since that time I went out on my own, work on all the old stuff, don’t regret it one bit. The dealers sure know how to put a farmer over a barrel and yank his pants down when he’s needing service

I love these, our farm used to have an 8400 and it was probably the best tractor we’ve ever had, it was never in the shop and the thing was a beast. I loved it but unfortunately as the farm grew bigger it became pretty much useless and we traded it for an 8530 :(

Have you ever heard or used the JD clutch adjusting tool to be used when you replace clutch components? I know a guy looking for one and his different JD dealers do not have one nor can he find one on the internet. Might be listed in the special tools sections of a JD manual. Thanks for anyone that can give a heads up!

The 4020 of the 90's and 2000's well except of course that these were a lot more comfortable and reliable!

It states multiple times in the video that these are changes made in the later model 8x00 series? do these changes affect all the 96 models? Or do they start in the 97 model year when they change the motor and the side decals?

I love this tractor but we’ve had reliability issues with all John Deere’s. GREAT tractors but all the comfort doesn’t mean much if you can’t rely on it to start when you need it to.

Then you are abusing them, not maintaining them, or lying. They were the best ever made.

@@ralphllivrah9551 I’m sorry I don’t agree with you, but you don’t have to go straight to insulting me. We do maintain them, and it only gets as much abuse as a regular dairy farm throws at it. And no I am not lying, I said I love the tractors and they are great tractors but you have to agree they suck in the cold. Or maybe you can’t say anything is wrong with a Deere. I’m not saying they’re unreliable, but I don’t want to fiddle for an hour in the cold when an international will start on the first couple cranks EVERY TIME. We are aloud to have differing opinions and I think that the dt466 and the 8.3 Cummins were the two best engines ever put in a tractor that size. Deere’s do have there place and we own multiple but for our operation we prefer case, international, and case ih. Sorry, but that’s just MY opinion.

This was a tractor with a computer in it. Today's tractors are computers on wheels.
