    Can't wait to see the 4430 I drove over a little over a week ago. Interesting material Jon. Thanks for the video. 👍🔧🔧🚜🚜

    AJ electric. I don't know if they're a good starter or bad starter. But I had one on the 4640 and one on the 4020 and they work fantastic and have been on there for several years. So now the 4430 can have one

    Funny question. I just got done overhauling my 466 engine in a 4650. Where’s a good place to put the “rebuilt with genuine John Deere parts” sticker?

    When I was at deere I usually put them on the hood by the door. No right or wrong place. Sometimes you see them on the dash.

    I’ve got a 4430 with no remote hydraulic pressure, and very slow 3 point. Steering works fine, any suggestions on what it could be? I’ve replaced filters and cleaned the transmission screen

    I would put a 0 to 3,000 PSI gauge and one of the hydraulic Outlets and see where your main pressure is at. You want about 2250. If it's around that 181900 somewhere down there the priority valve might start taking over and limiting 3 and Outlet oil

    Engine sounds nice,did you overhaul the engine ,and what is your opinion on remans,some people like them some do not?

  • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    Yep, we overhauled it. Reman, in my experience, is how cheaply a company can rebuild something. A few locals did Reman engines from deere and they didn't last long. Same with some of the cheap A&I and other aftermarket products, if the cost to rebuild is similar to a new aftermarket, rebuild because the aftermarket is probably not going to last.

    What do you suggest I use for threaded inserts in my block for head bolts. My threads are pulling out when I do the 90 degree yield turn. 466 engine using 180 flange bolts (not special)

    I assume you are using the right specs for them bolts. We have never had that problem yet. I would be curious to see if a heli coil would be strong enough?

    @@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 I had a mechanic I know put the engine together for me after the block and head was at the machinist. After installing the engine, I had it dyno'd for break in and we noticed that when it was putting out the coals, there was coolant seeping out the left side of the head gasket area. I pulled the hood and air cleaner and rocker arm cover to try to retorque and all of the outside left head bolts were ititially only at 95 ft / lbs (which is the second torque procedure). I attempted to give the bolt a final 90 degree turn and got the dreaded pop sound. So I am going to remove the head and try some type of insert. I've been looking at the helicoil and others like the key locking thread insert from Thread Tool Supply, Ez-Lock, and a few others and not sure which will handle the torque the best. Just want to get this tractor done so I can get it hooked to the planter.

    @@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Yes. My block # is R87556 and it takes the flanged 180. Did a little research on the Helicoils over the weekend and decided to try those first as the drill hole is smaller than the other options and it had some good torque and pull tests compared to others types

    The old book was 105 first round and then 143 final torque. Even if you did second torque at 160 that should work without popping threads.

    @danielallerton1805 use a T bar puller to pull gear, There is a big snap ring and then that cover comes off, normally a couple screw drivers and it pops out, sometimes you have to use a couple small prybars but don't get crazy or you can chip the lip, If it simply won't come out, drill and tap it and pull it.

    @Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms that is awesome, I sometimes wonder about getting a 1988 4450 PS and a 1988 JD 7000 series 8 row 30 inch planter... rebuild them both and they should run for a good 30-50 yrs! Yea that 4430 should run trouble free after you get it all together better than new and you can fix it! Priceless! Awesome Job! Edit : fix it yourself! Priceless! Maybe get a spare of everything now before the geniuses at JD loose all the parts to the old tractors! Lol
